We ate here on our 2nd night in Porlock but would not go back. We arrived at 730, moderately busy only one person waiting tables/front of house. Given menus fairly promptly but then no drinks order taken 20 mins later were asked for our food choices. it would have been good to have been able to have a glass of... More

Small family run restaurant.good food and service. A nice home made broccoli and Stilton soup, delicately flavoured and piping hot. Venison casserole good value, piping hot and tasty. Served with roast and new potatoes and three vegetables which were nicely cooked, just like home. A nice Cote de Rhone wine £15.95 and other wines reasonably priced.

We enjoy eating out at our favourite restaurant - the Lapsewood for our evening meals. We have been eating here on all our visits to Porlock. This is a family run restaurant, conveniently located in easy walking distance of most of the B & B's in the area. They offer nightly roasts as well as a la carte alternatives. The... More

Old-fashioned and quirky, the roast lamb was not any good but the casserole was great, tasty and soft. The fruit pie average but the ice cream quite good. You can play trivial while you are waiting for the meal.

Lapsewood produces really tasty mid-range food. It is ideal for holiday makers, especially families and for special occasions. Friendly service. I wish it was open all the year and not just April to October

We visited the Lapsewood restaurant last weekend whilst staying in Porlock. The meal was lovely, beautifully cooked and presented, and the service was very good, friendly and efficient. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a nice meal in pleasant surroundings.

I last ate here about 25 years ago and I don't think the menu or décor has changed since! Perhaps it is deliberate to keep the place in a time warp to make it stand out from the other places around. It definitely does that but it isn't anything special. Just plentiful portions of ordinary cooking without frills. I've looked... More

We made this restaurant our last evening dining. So pleased we did nothing else compared! The host was wonderful she helped with our choices gave recommendations on wine to go with the food and was chatty and helpful. She and her husband have ran this restaurant for 35 years I think she said. The food was superb! Tasty and filling... More
