The food and surroundings are wonderful. Excellent for a cinema deal. Have a lovely dinner then go onto Lynton cinema, makes a lovely evening.

So to get the location issue out of the way. Tripadvisor has two entries for the Culbone in its database. The first is this one for the restaurant and the second is for the hotel aspect of the business (same business / same location). The problem is that the map location for the restaurant entry is completely wrong so if... More

Teetering on the brink of excellent. Had lunch at the Culbone today, having been a few years ago under a different management. Attractive location and well maintained. Good efficient service, the lambs liver dish nicely cooked and very tasty, good veg too. Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and clotted cream ice cream, nice light sponge and tasty. Including one... More

First impressions of The Culbone were great, such a warm welcome, particularly for our dog. I had the lamb which was good. My boyfriend had the hake which was overcooked, only came with 4 very tiny baby potatoes and he couldn't taste the lobster butter. I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was lovely. My boyfriend's chocolate brownie was... More

We reserved a table here while we were visiting the area after reading good reviews, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the scallop starter and for our mains we had steak and the hake fish dish. The fish dish in particular was really good! It tasted like to was straight from the sea. One of the best seafood dishes... More

Stayed one night over the bank holiday weekend. Restaurant was booked out but they had been thoughtful enough to reserve a table for us. If you are staying here there's nowhere else to walk to (and a pretty unpleasant uphill drive from porlock) so might as well eat here. Short menu, only 2 vegetarian options but great quality and local... More

We booked lunch for 2 last saturday having visited once on a sunday several years ago. This place is set in an amazing landscape high above the north somerset coast and makes a rewarding break on a spectacular touring trip/day out. The menu is based completely on local sourced produce and the cooking and flavours are excellent. The menu is... More

We had heard a lot about this restaurant from the guest book at the cottage where we are staying (Oare Water Cottage) & thought we must give it a try. Three generations of our family enjoyed the exquisite rib eye steak with the devon blue cheese sauce & all of us agree, it wad the best steak we had ever... More

Ate here June 2015 but whilst the food was lovely the drink prices are expensive so consequently have not been back since but I would go back on a special occasion

Modern decor, little Exmoor ambience, and a lingering smell of damp is offset by a lovely view, we are told, but it was raining. Limited choice even more curtailed by specials and menu items being unavailable. Overpriced starters but competently cooked mains, expensive but OK deserts. Waitress service cheerful and helpful.

Description
Relax and unwind while you enjoy the stunning views from our peaceful bedrooms, and outside dining area. The seasonal views of the Valley and Moors are breathtaking (the coastal mist adds real magic to the landscape). Lush green in the spring and summer and full of character and action in autumn and winter. Partridge, pheasant and deer are our companions in the milder months. Staying at The Culbone is a great way to experience life on Exmoor.
