We booked lunch for 2 last saturday having visited once on a sunday several years ago. This place is set in an amazing landscape high above the north somerset coast and makes a rewarding break on a spectacular touring trip/day out. The menu is based completely on local sourced produce and the cooking and flavours are excellent. The menu is... More

We had heard a lot about this restaurant from the guest book at the cottage where we are staying (Oare Water Cottage) & thought we must give it a try. Three generations of our family enjoyed the exquisite rib eye steak with the devon blue cheese sauce & all of us agree, it wad the best steak we had ever... More

Ate here June 2015 but whilst the food was lovely the drink prices are expensive so consequently have not been back since but I would go back on a special occasion

Modern decor, little Exmoor ambience, and a lingering smell of damp is offset by a lovely view, we are told, but it was raining. Limited choice even more curtailed by specials and menu items being unavailable. Overpriced starters but competently cooked mains, expensive but OK deserts. Waitress service cheerful and helpful.

On arrival we were given a very warm welcome, the owners were very friendly and inviting, making us feel welcome. We were very lucky to get a room for 2 nights at the last minute during the holiday season, we were given room no: 1, their best room, which had an enormous ensuite and a set of French doors opening... We stayed here for a couple of nights with our dogs. The location is lovely, quiet and with fabulous walks and views from the door. Our room was comfy and modern with a pretty much unlimited supply of coffee. Our dogs were made super welcome in the rooms and restaurant. We ate here both nights and the food was superb.... More

This is a little gem, with completely unexpected fine dining. There is a view over the interland and it is a hotel as well.

Relax and unwind while you enjoy the stunning views from our peaceful bedrooms, and outside dining area. The seasonal views of the Valley and Moors are breathtaking (the coastal mist adds real magic to the landscape). Lush green in the spring and summer and full of character and action in autumn and winter. Partridge, pheasant and deer are our companions in the milder months. Staying at The Culbone is a great way to experience life on Exmoor.
