Popped in at lunchtime and we both had a bacon & brie ciabatta which came with garnish and homemade coleslaw . Triple cooked chips as well. We could not fault it. Staff friendly, fires and loved the style of the ladies with sensible doors that opened outwards so no need to manoeuvre around the door. Picked up a Sunday menu... More

This is the second meal that my neighbour and I had to send back. The eggs were raw. The pub was cold - no welcoming fire as the handle had broken. Very disappointing. Let's hope the local farmer at the bar was joking when he said the food would be returned with extra protein. Would be careful about eating here... More

Arrived to see a convivial environment with the local community engaging at the bar. Disappointed to experience that the management did not see that this was not a bonus to their string. The food was ok but not to restaurant standards. This place obviously has pretensions of gourmetdom, but is all in all slightly mediocre. My chips (triple cooked apparently)... More

Was taken here by a friend for a Sunday lunch . Well what a lovely place , small but not too small . Great food and good portions too . Pleasant staff who all seemed to be smiling even when they weren't speaking or serving to other customers. I would definitely come again and hopefully sooner rather than later .... More

I like pubs that haven't been "got at" by some make-over/marketing drones - comfortable, cozy, warm, friendly, lots of patina. The KA is one of those - and there are not that many in Somerset. They have 4 real ales and various ciders and some reasonable wines. The food is very good with several specials nights (steak night, fish and... More

As soon as we arrived the welcome was warm, not just from the staff but also the patrons. We all enjoyed an excellent dinner. The cost was very reasonable and we wouldn't change a thing. They looked after the children with some huge fish an chips. Can't wait to return

It may not look like an excellent restaurant from the outside, but the food was superb and the service was quick and efficient, especially as it was in the run up to Christmas.

Very comfortable for dog walkers in wellies. Fantastic roast dinners and huge portions. Could have been tiny bit warmer for elderly parents. Lovely, friendly staff. Will def visit again

When on a long road trip in parts unknown, stumbling across places like this raise spirits and restore faith in the great British pub. Warm welcome, good service (at busy time), outstanding food (£5 menu awesome) and super beer. Nothing to fault. I'd travel to Alfred's Wessex again just to eat and drink here again.
