This place needs a new start. The service is good, the beer is good, the location is lovely, but the kitchen needs a proper che!. Now it's seems to be mostly "pling food" (i.e. microwaved). The Pub is associated with and lives on the nearby Narrow Boat Marina.

A lovely evening meal for six, with no need to book on a Monday evening, having been on the canal for almost a week it was nice to find a genuine home cooking type restaurant. The food was lovely like home cooked, the waitress was a delight to be served by she was so polite and helpful. My whole family... More

We visited this pub for tea whilst on a narrow boat holiday. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating with our menu choices (changing mash for chips, etc). The food was served quickly and in a friendly manner. We sat outside the pub with our dog, right by the canal. The food was lovely, and we had pudding too (which... More

Although the choice of foods is limited the service was very good. I had the scampi while my friends had gammon, fish & chips and a jacket potato with cheese. It was well presented and served with good manners. Great views of the canal and the travelling boats were lovely, making a wonderful addition to our lunchtime.

Called for a meal early evening, just after six. Inside its dark and drab lacking in atmosphere. Little taste given to pictures on wall. Gents toilet cubicle had cobwebs hanging down. Place mats particularly awful, I guess an attempted canal theme, but looks Germanic. We ordered three fish and chips which arrived reasonably quickly. Looked good with nice chips and... More

Great stop off on our narrow boat holiday. Member of staff on duty seemed extremely busy - serving both behind the bar and the food service, but did a cracking job. Fish and chips were excellent and a good range of local beers on tap

After walking from Ellesmere we stopped off at the Narrow Boat Inn for a spot of light refreshment before our return walk. Being aware that the closing time was at 1500 we managed to arrive at 1435 and was surprised how friendly and welcoming the staffs were, asking if food was still being served she informed us the kitchen was... Although it looks very drab and down at heel from the outside, its better inside although a bit dated. The food however is very good and so is the choice of real ale. It is standard pub fare but very nicely cooked

We were in need of good quality food and nice clean facilities and we got both of these requirements, along with a cracking host! Well worth a visit, especially if you are passing on a canal holiday! - You won't be disappointed .
