Two families, one from Wales, one from the States travelling the Llangollen canal, stopped for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Fantastic welcome from the staff, fabulous menu and great local beer. Back on boat for a nap then returned the evening for snacks, child meals and to sample the extensive selection of gins. Fab day ended with the perfect Aviator... More

Had Sunday lunch here in August. It wasn't particularly busy and the service was good. The roast dinner itself was great - beef was off the menu but we both had ham and it came with a large selection of beautifully cooked vegetables. Friendly staff. I have been here when the service has been really slow but the food is... More

A nice find, with nice food and lovely staff, the decor and pub restaurant are very pleasing. Clean and tidy. Although the food was very nice, it was well charged, I understand it is good quality compared to the surrounding area restaurants but did find it slightly expensive for the type of food. One other thing the owner should refrain... More

Dined here one Tuesday night in August. We had booked though we were going early evening. It was quiet when we first got there but steadily got busier as the evening passed. The food was very good, I had the sweet potato and leek pie which was very tasty. My friend had one of the burgers which she said was... More

Well , we are without question the most reviewed establishment in the top 20 on Trip Advisor out of over 100 places to eat and drink in our area. We have almost three times the number of reviews since 4 July (35) compared to 13 for the next most reviewed restaurant in the top 10 alone for our area. We... More

Visited here twice whilst cruising the Llangollen canal. Moorings outside and up the towpath are very good. Our first visit was on a Sunday evening, we were expecting the place to be heaving, but there were only a few customers in. The food we ordered was very good and came out in a timely manor by nice staff....the local beers... More

Thank you for your comments. You were correctly informed by our staff that there would be a wait for service which we do with all diners who arrive without a booking at particularly busy times. It sounds like your server was trying to be helpful by explaining the wait but there have been no unplanned absences by our chefs as... More

We moored up at this pub on the first night of our canal boat holiday. We had already had a pub meal at lunchtime so didn't want lots of food but this fitted the bill perfectly. When we arrived, we were asked by a friendly member of staff if we had booked. When we said "no", he went to ask... More

We had no complaints about the premises and it's convenient location for narrowboaters, and most of the food was good. We would have rated this restaurant 4 if we had not had to wait so long for our orders. We were booked in for 7.15 p.m. and it was nearly 8 o'clock before even received our drinks order. Most of... it would be helpful to know more facts about your experience if you wish to contact me at david@jackmytton.com. We have recently changed our service policy for al fresco drinking and dining by offering regular service to the courtyard and outdoor bar. This is because service to the further corners of the gardens could generate long waits inside and out.... More

Delightful bar staff, delightful location and great food. Our first visit today but will not be the last. I can thoroughly recommend the wonderful 'Jack's Sausage 'N Mash' - a massive portion with very tasty onion gravy. The Mad Jacks (Chicken) Stack was far from mad , another big portion with very tasty fries. Well done to all of you... More

This was our first visit to the "Jack" since it was refurbished last year. The new owners have done a fabulous job and the place now has a brighter feel to it. Lovely flagged floor and a new bar fit out along with a new menu and still with brilliant ale. A special mention must go to India, the girl... More

Stopped here on a canal boat holiday. The beer was excellent. The food was really good and was faultless. You can park the boat outside. Service was very welcoming. Not sure if they welcomed dogs inside as we sat outside.
