We visited on a very quiet Monday night at the end of the month. The landlord was most welcoming. The food was great and although the menu is quite small it was varied enough to appeal to a variety of customers. Well worth a visit.

This is a friendly village pub that serves good food without any pretensions. The majority of the menu is mainstream pub fare but there are always some individual additions. The pies are always worth trying, stuffed full with meat and flavour in a thin pastry "basket" without a top - stunning.

Visited with my partner and our 2 dogs on a Saturday night. Excellent food , great choice of wines and fantastic staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they made our dogs just as welcome as us. The log fire and cosy seating area in the bar made it feel like home from home . Highly recommend and we will... More

I ate here on a Saturday evening as a party of 8, including children and a baby. We came across the pub after a quick. Google and trip advisor search of pubs close to Eynsham Hall. This certainly did not disappoint, and if we are ever passing will definitely go back to eat and drink. From the moment we walked... More

We eat at the Hand and Shears quite often, it is always good with friendly and efficient service and excellent food. The ambience and atmosphere are great, you feel among friends when you walk in. We went there for our wedding anniversary dinner recently and it was particularly special. They looked after us really well and the meal was superb.... More

We have visited this beautiful pub a few times now (mostly weekends )and we can not fault it ! We are always made to feel welcome - even if we haven't booked a table. The staff are super friendly and they are brilliant with children. Highly recommended well done !

Visited for a quick lunch. The Burger was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Not dry like so many. Nice relaxed pub atmosphere with friendly resident dogs. Will return to try again.
