A sign says "Enter as strangers, leave as friends"...and that's exactly how you feel when you spend any time at the aptly named cafe of friends. Service is so friendly, the homemade soup is just what you need on a cold winter's day. The cakes are to die for and the atmosphere is simply lovely. A delightful homey place to... More

On a cold and windy day we enjoyed a hearty gammon broth with cheese scones followed by a very nice Coffee and walnut cake washed down with a good filter coffee

Cafe des Amis serves the most delicious soup and scone -perfect for chilly Autumn days. Or, if you have a sweet tooth, try the rhubarb and ginger combo!

We sought Cafe Des Amis out after reading reviews on here - making sure to have a long walk around Carlisle Park first to work up an appetite - and we were rewarded with the best cake in the world and the warmest welcome. We had the Jamaican Chocolate Chip cake and the Chocolate, with the former being so good... More

Mostly great reviews on this brilliant cafe, however, some of the negative remarks can only be said to be petty and irrelevant. The cakes are to die for, having tried quite a few and being very critical of other people's cooking, I can say that with all sincerity. This time round I tried a scone with coffee, both were delicious.... More

The cakes, the scones, the coffee and the staff.... always wonderful. I especially like the fact that I can take my dog into the comfy enclosed area at the rear of the cafe. The owner, I believe, makes baked goods herself, as well as being on hand fro her customers. It must make all of that hard work a bit... More

I was dumbfounded today to read a very disparaging review of this most excellent cafe on Trip Advisor. The author criticised it's cleanliness, dust, cobwebs, smell etc., even the condensation on the outside windows as it was a cold day. They even photographed some dust on an artificial plant! Can't believe it! This cafe has been faithfully used for years... More

Rather cramped at the front but a lovely conservatory at the back. Good food and friendly service. The scones are excellent and the staff friendly
