Despite living just down the road from this hostelry it's years since we last visited and are we glad we did? Yes! A family group of four of us called here last week on a lovely sunny day which meant eating al fresco. Superb starters and main; great selection of beers and wines. Excellent friendly staff + plus the sunshine.... More

First time I have visited here since it has been under new management and we were impressed. We prebooked, which is essential, it was very busy. All the meals were freshly prepared. The 'small' options of the meals were very generous The large meals were very very genorous. Great value, good service. Will be back.

We visited this pub on Saturday evening, we hadn't booked but were greeted very nicely and although the place was very busy, a table was found for us. We eat around the Amble area every weekend and this was one of the best pub meals we have had, at a reasonable price too. The food was served fresh hot and... More

Called in on the way back Berwick. Always heard good things but time to try for myself. Yes we had to wait a short while for a table, but the staff were polite and helpful and ever so hard working, they never stopped. We had the roast beef. There was a plateful of food and the beef was melt in... More

Visited with a few family members to celebrate a birthday. Table was pre booked, which is always advisable as this is a busy place. Can't understand the complainers who don't book and then moan about not being able to get a table or it's not where they want to sit! Food was excellent, tasty and hot. The tuna steaks were... More

7 of us went for a family reunion on Tuesday night. It was packed which always a good sign. 3 of us had curry, 2 veggie 1 lamb, comes with naan and raita, all good. Chocolate torte to die for. Cauliflower al dente which i don't mind. What I love is the option of small or large portion. We all... More

Went to have a catch up with a few friends, food lovely we all really enjoyed our food but when we went to order puddings the rude member of staff at bar, states that there was other people for our table so basically saying did we have time for puddings??? And they hoped they would have time to serve them... More

Visited with my wife, the starters were excellent. I had pan fried liver for the main and it was dreadful, massively over cooked, tough and chalky. Pointed this out to the waitress who went to inform the chef, never heard a peep from anyone after that! Poor manners and spoilt what should have been a pleasant evening. Two customers lost.
