The hotel catered well for our group of 20+ diners and the food was all served on time and we were given a private room too. The food was reasonable, though nothing special and the desserts in particular didn't impress. Bar prices were expensive and the new owner who took our payments didn't seem to want to engage with his... More

Having trudged round Alnwick at tea time looking unsuccessfully for somewhere nice to eat we got back in the car and noticed this place on our way out of the town. The carvery, served from 5.30 daily I think, was excellent. All fresh and cooked to perfection. Lovely large dining area, child friendly and pleasant staff.

Very average hotel now run by the Marston Brewery company.. Seems to be run using minimum staff numbers and the positioning of the check in desk isolated and unmanned can lead to delays on arrival.. An old fashioned hand bell on counter could easily be replaced with modern equivalent which would more efficiently alert staff lurking elsewhere on the premises.... More

Nice place to enjoy a few beers and a meal. The staff were very welcoming , and although we had not booked found us a table in a very short time. The food was very enjoyable . I had the steak and her indoors had the salmon , that with a few pints and a G&T made for a very... More

Has a carvery, where the food sometimes appears to have been under a hot tray and the quality is varied, vegetables can be . Staff always seem to be unsmiling and bored with their work. There are some special deals which present better value for money. Vegetables can be very nearly cold!

The Oaks is a good quality hotel/pub/restaurant - it's not high end but is certainly value for money. Rooms are clean and spacious. Pub has plenty of real ale. Restaurant is busy with a varied menu and the cooked breakfast is a hearty treat. Will stay here again without hesitation.

We visited three whilst in the Alnwick area. The first time just for a drink and take part in a quiz. We won the quiz, which gave us four free carvery vouchers. So we returned on the Sunday and had a great meal. Huge Yorkshire puddings and lovely meat. We also did another quiz, the chap who was running the... More
