Betty's is great for a long slow afternoon tea but expect to queue for a table. Choose the Swiss influenced originals or British staples and make sure you peruse the speciality tea and coffee lists. Staff are always polite and knowledgeable and are happy if you are having a coffee or a full lunch. On your way out, pick up... More

Took my parents here for afternoon tea to celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary. We usually go to the York cafe as it's closest to us, but Northallerton is closest to my parents. Housed in a lovely building, the cafe was cosy and comfortable. Our afternoon tea was a treat and the service very good.

We had an excellent start to our weekend with late breakfast at Bettys. The service was good and the food was exquisite - as expected.

Far too expensive and the price doesn't reflect the quality of the food (which is ok but no better). Betty's is more of an experience than anything else.

Pass the building every day but in 20 years had never visited. Yesterday invited for a two family meal and loved the service and the food...could hardly fault either. Very busy business with most being regulars.

Smoked haddock and poached egg my favourite. Ambled egg on muffin with bacon excellent. If really hungry have the Breakfast Rosti. I love the Peruvian Pangoa coffee.

The staff (minus the lady in the grey suit; surly and rude - supervisor?) were excellent; attentive and polite, a real credit. The coffee was also very good and well priced for it's size. The real let down - and why this review scrapes its 3-stars - was the 'poached eggs with crushed avocado on sourdough' which was poor. At... More

Haven't been in for a while, so it was good to see that things are still the same. My only gripe could be that we were parked in a bit of a corner where we felt somewhat isolated. Other than that the good ship Betty's is steaming ahead.

Thank Tom B
