My family and I visited the star two years ago and were met with a very rude member of staff so only stayed for one drink and soon left. We decided to give it another try this year as it looks a lovely clean local...pub/restaurant however we soon learned that some things never change! The same member of staff still extremely rude along with two of her colleagues. I would have thought given the current Covid 19 restrictions that places like this would need all the tourism and support they could get and would be trying harder to welcome customers. Unfortunately again we only stayed for one as not willing to give such an establishment our business. Thankfully my family and I found many more family friendly places in Filey who were only too keen to accommodate our young family while still being able to adhere to the strict Covid 19 government guidelines. Will most definitely not return here to The Star and would advise other to avoid!!More

We decided to have a day trip from chesterfield to Filey, and went back to the pub where we had a lovely meal last time we visited Filey a couple of years ago. In these strange times it's good to see that they take the...restrictions and requirements seriously, so it felt safe. Food was really tasty and enjoyable, and well presented. Chips were really delicious. The staff were attentive and efficient - the guy serving us in the conservatory area took care to clean the tables down well after customers left. We will go back next time we visit Filey.More

We have visited twice over the last two nights. We haven’t eaten here though so I cannot comment on that. I must say that although drinks are slightly expensive I felt very covid safe here (which coming from another area I haven’t really felt particularly...in some places). The staff were really friendly on both evenings. Having read some of the reviews on here regarding the staffs/Landlady’s rudeness I would take it with a pinch of salt. The staff were great and the landlady is a tough Yorkshire woman! That’s it! It’s normal in Yorkshire ! So, stick with the rules and enjoy a nice drink in a local pub without roughyens!More

Well..... Don't go unless you abuse of the rudest women I've ever met. Went Saturday for a quick beer after riding 20 miles to Filey. My boy and I sat on the garden and asked a waitress if it was table service or bar service....Table was the reply. And she went. Didn't rake my order just went. After almost 30 minutes I decided to go to the bar to be greeted by the rudest wen in the world..... 'you can't come in here and go to the bar' she shouted... 'this is our area not youres'.... 'Oh sorry' I replied' I was just wonderi.g if the waitress was coming back to take our order or wether I could order here' 'SHE WILL BE THERE SOON BUT SHE WON'T BE COMING TO YOU' she yelled. 'NOW GET OUT'.... WTF. td her OK I'll take my money elsewhere... So just a word of warning folks.. Not the friendliest experience I've ever had or the warmest welcome in a pub... I for. One certainly wont be darkening her door againMore

We booked a table for 6:00pm and ordered soon after arrival. After almost 30mins I asked a member of staff if our meal would be much longer. After inquiring he told us, somewhat curtly, that "the steak pie takes 30 minutes". It would have been...nice to have been made aware of this, rather than having to ask. The young man seemed somewhat disgruntled from that point. However, the food itself was fine.More

All the social distancing measures are in place - the service is great and a brilliant selection of drinks to suit everybody - a good menu is available but booking in advance is advisable -

Best pub in Filey by a long way. Good food, great service and really nice atmosphere. Have dealt with coronavirus restrictions brilliantly. Very family friendly.
