We visited Alford over the Easter holiday and was pleased to see that the Jolly Friar was open. We had takeaway chips with gravy and they were good although more expensive with smaller portions than most chippy's we have visited recently and they charged an extra 10 pence for the slightly bigger forks that are better for takeaways.

If your hungry I wouldn't go there, the tall fish fryer is ignorant and arrogant.£1.70 for a regular chips that didn't really feed my 2 year old child let alone me. I personally think, since they done refurb to shop, portions have got a lot smaller and prices gone up. Used to be a very good shop but now will avoid and... More

On my way to a site meeting in Mablethorpe and popped in here and it was fantastic. I prefer to wait for fish to be cooked because I think like Asian food, fish should be cooked fresh and eaten straight away. The piece of Cod had very crisp batter with beautiful thick and moist flesh. You would struggle to find... More

It's the only fish and chip shop in Alford so obviously it's popular. Food's nice, staff are friendly- closes earlier than I would like though and a bit pricey compared to the seaside places nearby. I would advise phoning order through if you can though.
