Anarkali is situated on the country road of Haslingden on Roundhill road where you would see the lovely view of the countryside. After a 4 hour journey to visit local friends, myself and the kids were really looking forward to visiting this restaurant we’d heard so much about.
We was welcomed by a lady who I presumed was the owner with a lovely smile and invited in to sit at a plush area by the bar to have some drinks. The girls servicing the drinks were very friendly and offered us a choice of gins. Within 5 mins we was shown to our table. The menu had so much choice and our lovely waiter explained that everything was freshly cooked so an approx wait time of 20 mins was to be expected. He advised us what to order for such a large group. We chose an array of starters which were delicious. We agreed to all order a different curry for main and all share.
We had chicken tikka, lamb, prawns, vegetable currys, Bombay and spinach potatoes, a choice of rices including egg friend and the kids devoured the garlic rice and piping hot Nan breads. All dishes were mouth watering.. I never heard a grumble from the children once as they cleared their plates. The lady and her husband came over and were so friendly and spent time talking to us and made us feel incredibly welcome.
Although the restaurant was busy due to Fathers Day, service was spot on.
Will definitely be returning next time I’m in the area.

We have driven past here many times and always wanted to try it. We are so glad we did! Food was packed with flavour, lovely spices and aromas. Portion sizes were generous. Prices are comparable with other local restaurants, staff were very attentive and friendly. Only tweak for me was the mushrooms in my dish were button but that’s the only small tweak I could find. Restaurant itself is furnished in a lovely style.

5 star ...fantastic Indian restaurant, probably the best in the area.
We visited yesterday for a family birthday. There were 15 of us and we experienced fantastic staff and excellent food . Can't recommend this restaurant enough and during January and February a massive 25% off the total bill. An excellent night was had by us all . Thank you to the management and staff.

Having moved back to the area recently we gave this a try after hearing positive things about the food. Me, my wife and our 3 year old dined on Friday at 5:30pm and it was quiet - we were the first to arrive in the restaurant. Despite how quiet it was service from the get go was very slow and inefficient. Not a positive start.
Eventually menus arrived and a drinks order was taken.
The gap between us receiving menus and anybody returning was lengthy at best, despite numerous staff stood around seemingly doing nothing.
After ordering the wait for Poppadoms and chutney tray to arrive was 20 minutes which is far too long simply for pops. There was also clearly some confusion on the ordering system as a palaver between staff ensued which was odd given by this point there was only 2 tables occupied.
Once mains arrived we enjoyed them, well presented, tasty and nicely spiced. When our drinks ran out again nobody asked if we wanted more so had to go to the bar to flag to the waiters stood around doing nothing.
Overall the food was decent but nothing spectacular, service was very lacking and having reviewed the bill is on the pricey side - particularly based on service received. (£2.95 for a small half pint glass or cordial with water is inexcusable - see bill image)
Alternatives nearby definitely preferred.

Won’t be going here again.
Had a terrible experience the time before, but we decided to give them another chance. More fool us.
Booked a table weeks in advance for 5pm on Fathers Day.
Arrived at 4:50pm.
Were not sat at a table until 5:45pm.
Drinks orders not taken until 6pm. That’s just drinks - Alex to wait longer for food orders to be taken.
This husband and wife duo need to go back to basics in restaurant management and not be so greedy as to welcome all walk ins when they’ve got so many bookings.
They were moving already-sat guests to other tables to make room for parties of 8+ (yes, the guests had their drinks and chutney trays in hand as they were moved!)
The man who seems to be in charge has zero customer skills, a horrible temper and mutters to himself as he charges across the restaurant.
The wife isn’t much better - and neither know how to deal with angry, hungry customers who they have over promised to (spoiler: you the customer will be blamed)
The serving staff are lovely, and I feel sorry for them having to deal with the management styles I’ve seen today.
Disgusting and won’t be returning.

I am new to the area and as a first time customer I ordered via their own website after being recommended by a regular customer/friend. I placed my order on Christmas Eve and I collected it from the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy and as such as I waiting for my order for about 20 minutes, whilst observing customers collecting orders & being given complimentary bottles of wine. After a while I was given my order and allowed to leave without any reassurance or recognition. On tasting the curries which were a madras and a chilli Marsala, we were both shocked at the gritty, grainy and pure spicy flavour that was not cooked out at all. The curry was just pure heat and absolutely no flavour at all. My assumption is that the chef’s in the kitchen were totally inexperienced and it resulted in our inedible grainy curries. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant because every customer should be as important regardless of their order status. Word of mouth is the best recommendation and also seal your fate too.

Booked a table for 7 for Xmas Day. As requested I emailed our meal choices in advance, all from the Xmas menu. We arrived and the staff immediately rearranged some tables to seat us, as if we weren't expected. We waited a while then a woman, who seemed to be supervising things, came to take our order on her ipad. I believe this to be the same person I emailed my over to. A couple of times she referred to our choicesasbeing specials or from the other menu so costing extra so I pointed utthat the salmon dish and naan breads were on the Xmas menu. She then asked why we hadn't ordered poppadoms & I told her that it's part of the set menu. When the food arrived a started was missing, then a main was missing, along with the garlic. At the end of the meal we weren't offered teas or coffees which were also included aspart of the set menu and when I tried to attract attention she told me that we need to get going because they had to prepare for the next sitting at 4pm, so we could pay at the bar. I told her that I didn't think the delay had been on our part. I paid without Tipping which is highly unusual for me. Afterwards my husband told me that there were people at other tables who arrived after us, got served before us and were given the orange slices with the bill at their table so I'm not sure why we were treated differently. We won't be returning.

Hi this is the lady you are on about!
You have left a disgusting review. Which most of it was not true. I was polite to you very polite. I asked for your order so I can send to the kitchen and double check it if it was right I told you that. You made the whole thing sound like it was a disaster. You enjoyed the food you had over four hours on that table I had second seating arriving and you were not budging. Other places had 4 seatings in and out like cattle, I asked you about the popodums as you never ordered them and they were part of your set meal. Did I make a mistake I don’t think so. I refused over 80 people in the last ten days am sure they would have appreciated your table instead of you. As you said you won’t be returning that’s fine but if you do return we always welcome you with a warm greeting. As I know what you look like I never forget a conversation or a face. My husband can vouch for that.

Tonight I decided to order a collection take away order from the Anarkali. Earlier this week I received a flyer through my door stating that they were offering a 30% discout if you paid cash collected your take away & orderd on line. I orderd on the on line website & chose my meal. Picking to pay cash & collect my order for a 30% discount. It stated that my meal would be ready for collection by 6:35. I arrived at the restaurant and was told my order wasn't on their ordering system. They said I could order again on site. I asked if I would still receive the 30% discount & they promptly replied with a NO as I had to order on line. I walked out empty handed. The customer service is diabolical. I will not be going again & urge people to be very wary of the online website ordering service. It makes me wonder how many other people have had the same experience & had to pay in full at the restaurant just to get there order.

I am off work due to ill health. On the flyer it states we prefer cash payment option as this will keep our banking charge low and we also accepts all major credit cards an online payment. I am a bit confused why your order did not come on our online platform and yet you got a confirmation saying your order will be ready and we did not receive your order . Booked for Father’s Day for 5pm. When we arrived there was a que outside with people who hadn’t booked, inside absolutely chaotic. Lots of people stood around waiting to be seated in the bar area, staff ignoring customers who had booked & seating larger parties of people who hadn’t booked before the people who had booked!.
Finally got seated at around 6pm after we kept asking when our table would be available. This was into a conservatory that looked to be falling down , bricks missing and part of the roof falling down…. Cold & damp.
Food was just ok after finally coming to our table at around 6.30 pm but the owners were extremely rude to various customers.
Will not be returning.

I ordered the garlic starter, and I couldn't taste/smell any garlic. I ordered a garlic dish, that seemed to be lacking garlic aswell. The dry pre sliced garlic nans had no garlic too. The lady at the front of the house was rude to us, and her staff. I noticed if a bad review is left, the lady would never admit her wrongs. Never again.

We have just returned from Anar Kali after celebrating our mum’s 60th birthday 🎂
The restaurant catered for 40 adults and 11 children. The service we received was absolutely brilliant, right from the minute of ringing up to enquire about having our party at the restaurant.
Yasin and his team provided beautiful food in a stunning restaurant. They served the whole party at once, catered for allergies and also made sure the kids all had something they enjoyed too.
They allowed us to set up a separate little table to display a birthday cake and balloons.
We were a pretty loud group with some crazy kids in the mix and all the staff greeted us with smiles on their faces and couldn’t do enough to make sure the event ran smoothly and everybody was happy.
We couldn’t recommend the restaurant enough!
Thank you so much for making our mum have a 60th birthday to remember! 🤍🥳🎂

A charity evening was held for our local branch of the NSPCC and after eleven years of holding these events once again it was an excellent evening raising lots of cash
A warm welcome was received by all the staff. The service and food was top quality and an enjoyable evening was had by almost 50 of our NSPCC supporters and were all asking when the next Thali Evening was taking place !!
The food was excellent. The restaurant is so warm and welcoming. As usual thank you for a wonderful evening and we will see you very soon.

Rang up on the day and they still managed to squeeze us in. Greeting on arrival really friendly and shown to table straight away. Menu choice is amazing with lots of choice in all sections. Food was served deliciously hot and when we asked for a break between courses this was no problem. Lovely lounge area to relax and let the meal settle before setting off for home. Nothing too much trouble, we will be back!

Very slow service, lack lustre and frustrating. Took a long time to order food and there was lots of waiting around, it really seemed like the waiters just didn't care. The food was lovely, particularly the paneer tikka but what lets this place down is the waiting staff and level of service. I should also say tiny diet cokes are £2.95 (!!). Management were rude when we raised issues with the speed of service. If you want high-quality service there are plenty of Indian restaurants in Ramsbottom that are always on it in terms of service. We left disappointed, you need to appreciate your customers more.

Another great meal at the Anar Kali… first visit of 2024. I ordered the Afghan Lamb Signature dish, which was spicier (hotter) than usual & so when I mentioned it - was whisked away from the table & was returned, more to my liking with some yoghurt on the side. We ordered the special Firecracker Naan Bread & that was really tasty. The poppadoms are always fresh, with a good selection of condiments.
Nice decor & all the staff are friendly & helpful. Can highly recommend.
