A local icon often visited, never disappointing. The food predictably excellent (which is to say, always the same - not that this is a complaint! - but with a blackboard menu which provides good variety). Fish pie particularly sought after and with good reason. Staff friendly and efficient - some drawn from the local student population but well drilled. Well... More

After a great drive through the Trough of Bowland, reached this highly recommended pub/restaurant within a historic building set in a great location i.e. acres of countryside and next to a river. Had a meal within the pub part at lunchtime and all was delicious. Also no problem with the dog. I had black pudding to start, followed by bangers... More

What could be better than having superb food with friends whilst enjoying fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. A country inn with old world charm and character

Everything about the Inn at Whitewell was perfect. There were four people in our group, and we did a bit of sharing so we got to try both mains and puddings. There wasn't an item that was not heavenly (tip, make sure to try the fish pie!) The wait staff were helpful and just lovely. The location was exquisite, and... More

Lots to choose from the extensive menu but we decided to have scones and tea, huge portions with delicious whipped cream and strawberry jam.

This was a birthday treat from my girlfriend, I'd wanted to try this place for a few years, never quite getting the chance to get out of the city to go. I was not disappointed at all. We arrived early and had a drink set on the terrace at the back, what an amazing view, endless hills and fields, so... More

Thank you for your write-up, very much appreciated, glad you enjoyed your dinner in the dining room. The Gavi de Gavi is a winner and I too love the venison Carpaccio but I'm not sure we are on for piped music, the sound of the river works for me. Thank you again. Regards Cb More

Loved the food experience at our friends wedding last weekend. At least 80 diners, all fed together, all the food was spot on. Tomato and basil soup, so tasty Chicken and fresh veg, perfect. Sticky toffee pudding so sweet and excellent. Loved it !

We are experiencing a rare long spell of fine, hot weather with daily, blue skies, an abundance of tree blossom and luxuriant meadows with wild flowers blooming. Add all that to a delightfully relaxed family lunch at the Inn at Whitewell. The bar and eating areas were very busy, but pleasantly uncrowded by design. We were served efficientlyand well. Confit... Thank you very much for the lovely review, the weather has just been great, this is what summer used to be like. That was a gorgeous Bugatti too, such a cool colour, which I've never seen before. Hope we see you and the dogs soon. Regards Cb More
