My wife and I ate here for our anniversary just before Christmas, we had a lovely meal in the main restaurant, the dining room was clean with and open fire going, the place if upmarket but retains the relaxed pub/inn feel despite the quality of the food. the food itself was delicious and served promptly. Would definitely go back for... More

They actually tell you to arrive @ 7.00 to grab a table if you haven't booked in the restaurant. The bar area is huge and very welcoming with a daily specials board. We had homemade fish cakes followed by roast rib and it was amazing. The patio area looks on to the river and so does some of the tables... More

We stayed for two nights. With B&B, evening meal (with pre dinner drinks and wine) and a couple of room service tea trays (no in room tea making facilit) the price was just over £500. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food excellent and the wine list extensive. Cheapest starter was £6.50 and main courses ranged from £13.50 to... More

My wife and I have just returned from three days in the Trough of Bowland in North Lancashire, one of the most attractive parts of the U.K. We stayed in the Inn at Whitewell, which is in the middle of glorious countryside and where the loudest noise is birdsong and a gurgling stream. The buildings and surrounding land is owned... More

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime after a brisk 5 mile walk round the Hodder Valley. Wet dog in tow we sat in the bar, there was an eclectic mix of people dining. Fellow walkers, the odd dog, some smartly dressed pensioners, trendy mid aged couples and a load of people who were there for a wedding later. I haven't... More
