It was Friday lunch and filled with a day trip of OAP's it seemed who were all waiting for their fish and chip lunches. Bar staff said we would have approx 20 min wait so we ordered drinks and our... What a wonderful experience. We popped in on spec yesterday for Sunday lunch. Amazingly friendly welcome at the bar and the team had a table sorted for us immediately. The set lunch was great, one of us had lamb and the other chicken.Superbly cooked and served with lovely fresh vegetables. The blackberry mess pudding was delicious and the whole meal... More

We visited this Pub and were greeted with a friendly smile. The food was lovely and the portion sizes were AMAZING!!! 2 Pork chops, 3 pieces of Black pudding and all the chips and veg you could wish for. Would definitely recommend a visit!

As related friends who've both been around a bit, we look for good country pubs for a pub lunch not too far from Nelson. The Buck at Paythorne has to be one of our favourites - for good food and drinks, for feeling welcome each time we go there and good service, quite lively and finally emerge happy into a... More

i visited this pub after reading several good reviews trip adviser. The pub is situated in the sleepy backwater of Paythorne, a really nice and tranquil village approximately 6 miles outside of Clitheroe. I was accompanied on my journey by my wife and sister in-law. On entering the pub we greeted with a smile and a good afternoon by Rachel... More

Called in for lunch with a young family. The food was good, the service was excellent. Clean and tidy place. Good choice of beers and ales. Even boxes of toys for the kids to play with which meant we could sit down and relax whilst waiting for out food. Not the best pub meal we have ever had, but certainly... More

This was a small group booking by mainly first time guests.. All were astonished at the quality of the local food and the inclusion of a starter in the price. Beef, lamb, half a chicken(!) and salmon were enjoyed. Yorkshire pud with all the meat courses. Veg was served separately, roast and crushed potato, carrots/peas and buttered swede. All ages... Ate here twice when staying locally and all four of us had great meals and great service on each occasion. (the treacle toffee pudding is to die for!). However, on the second visit (the night before we left for home) I left my camera under the chair where we had been sitting. The first I knew of this is when... More
