Went to the Black Bull for a family meal out, was recommended by a friend and we weren't disappointed. The food was good and wholesome, cooked to a high standard and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful, it was hard to fault it.

Ate here and will definitely go back when I can move again. We both had roast dinners, one turkey and the other beef and we did our best but couldn't finish them. After a while we thought we'd have desserts. Bad mistake. Extremely yummy and very fat and full by the end of the meal. Reasonably priced too. We had... More

Delicious home made food. Very friendly service. Enjoyed our meals and the knowledgeable owner. Our group ate beef, chicken and lamb. All meats were tender and delicious.

4 for evening meal. Lovely cosy (see later!) pub - very old - reputedly one of the oldest licensed pubs in country. Great service, friendly staff and lovely ambience. All food was excellent, Blackpudding stack starter tasty and filling - scallops a bit on small side but good! Fishcakes superb and almost a meal on their own. As for main... More

Went to this pleasant pub with fire for dinner two nights when staying in the area. Good efficient friendly staff, nicely served food (we had fish pie one night which was very tasty and well cooked) Cheese platter was huge and attractively served. Wine by the glass wasn't great but reasonable priced. All in all nice pub with good atmosphere... More

Definitely a cut above most pub food and much better quality than any of the usual chains with a smaller and more intimate dining room. Some dishes are excellent though some, notably the curries, lack authenticity. Staff are all very helpful and personable. Not quite exquisite dining but certainly at the top end of pub food on offer.

The food is lovely and the staff are aswell. We go in every thursday for a catch up with everyone. The prices have recently gone up and portions have gone smaller. But it is still nice.
