We visited as a group of six for Saturday lunch wanting somewhere where we could have a longish meal and a proper social occasion. The Ivy House was spot on - it is a fine old pub and after an experiment with going down the fine dining route is reverting to it's origins. It now has an interesting menu but... More

Visited the Ivyhouse for lunch. I am 5ft 7inches and had to duck in places in the pub, but was really impressed with the service and the food. Good selection of main meals and snacks. I chose the fish finger sandwich and was pleased with the fact it wasn't the frozen fish fingers, but fish goujons in fresh bread with... More

My son and I had lunch here again today and whilst we always enjoy our meals the mushroom and chilli soup was amazing. Having come in freezing cold and hoping there would be soup on the specials board I was treated to a choice of two and was not disappointed 10/10

Brilliant food in a lovely old building. I find the staff very welcoming. One of the last decent pubs remaining in the area

Their website uses words like 'fine dining gastro pub' and 'exquisite freshly prepared menu'. However, I found that many items on the menu and specials board are either deep fried or re-heated. My whole tail scampi (in uniform rectangular shapes!) was bland - as if bought from a supermarket freezer and my skinny fries were under-cooked and floppy. Three courses... More

Having read the reviews of the pub I was slightly disappointed. The good things was the friendliness, the ability to park in the car park, good menu, a pleasant service and they sell prosecco by the glass . The menu is not extensive but they were very happy to change various aspects of the dish to accommodate us. The waiter... More

I am ashamed to notice that it is over a year since my wife and I last visited this great local pub/restaurant, and again it was before visiting the theatre. (This time to see the food critic Jay Rayner holding forth at Tonbridge School.) Jay would certainly have enjoyed his meal here. There is a wide ranging menu with plenty... More

We went for an evening meal between Christmas and New Year and it was quite quiet but by no means empty with no atmosphere. We had a nice welcome and were shown to our table straightaway. The menu was great....a good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian which left me with some tough decisions! I ended up choosing two starters... More
