I booked a table at the last minute - quite late on the evening before in fact - via Facebook. The online response was very quick, and answered all my questions, including to bake a fruit-free scone especially for my wife, as she cannot eat dried fruit. When we arrived, our reserved table was right in the window, offering a... More

We visited Peggotty's Tea Shoppe in Tenterden during a one day visit to the town, we were looking for a cup of tea or coffee but not from a large chain. Peggotty’s Tea Shoppe is located along the High Street (A28) at a point where the pavement is noticeably lower than the road itself, giving it some protection from the... More

Thank you for taking time to write such a detailed review. The back garden adds additional seating on pleasant days, but is rather hard to maintain to a high standard, but our customers are always surprisingly complimentary. I hope you make a return visit soon and try one of our cream teas. All the scones are made throughout the day... More

Best homemade scones I have ever had. We chose Peggottys because the allowed us to take our dog Fred into the rear garden, which meant the place was a hit straight away, as so many places don't accept dogs. We opted to have the scones, I had fruit with jam and cream, which were just beautiful, the texture and taste... More

Perfectly fits into my favourite town of Tenterden. A lovely little tea shop/cafe with home made cakes and lovely teas and delicious coffee. Today we had a jacket potato and salad which was perfect, and then we shared a cream tea, lovely home made scones with stacks of jam and clotted cream. Delightful. Service was perfect and we were left... More

Every time we visit the food is lovely and freshly baked. Toasted tea cake with lashings of salted butter and a cream tea with speciality teas. Yummy. Garden is great when sunny whereas the front room is now looking more like a coffee shop. Nice people serving.

Lovely surprise to fall upon this little tea shop. We came in from the cold, so really appreciated the tea being served right away whilst we waited for the cheese toastie and scones to come. Real tea leaves were such a treat, loved having the little tea strainer. Excellent fluffy light scones served with thick cream and jam and lovely... More

Peggotty's Tea Shop has an interesting, ever changing decor inside the shop. Perhaps a little quirky? Bright paintings and hats (!) decorate the walls. There are tables in front of the shop, and also a couple of tables in the peaceful oasis of a back garden. The tea is from the local Kent Tea Company - loose leaf only. The cakes and scones are 100% homemade. Try the tangy lemon drizzle or the nutty coffee and walnut, 2 of the favourites.Or why not just go for a plain and simple old fashioned rock cake. They will not disappoint you.If you are feeling the need to be decadent, try a scrumptious afternoon tea - consisting of sandwiches of your choice, scones jam and clotted cream, and cake of your choice to finish. The cream teas are scrumptious - how can you resist?Go on - treat yourself!
