I visited Reads one evening last week with relatives and friends. We have been there quite often but on the last visit we were a bit disappointed. It is our favorite restaurant in the area. I think maybe the owners were away or possibly the usual chef was off The staff are very efficient, personable , attentive and generally on... More

The moment you turn into the drive past the lovely gardens up to the splendid manor house you realise you are in for a treat and Reids does not let you down. The immaculate rooms to the attentive service all combine to serve up a wonderful experience. Talking of serving up ,I've left the best to last--the food is just... More

Let's keep this short and sweet. The food was very good. The wine was very good. The desert was very good. The cheese was very good. The coffee was good. The staff were excellent. Our friends felt as though everyone was a little snobby when we first entered as everyone was in a suit or evening dress. Don't let that... More

Lucky us, it was a beautiful day so we sat in the courtyard for drinks before lunch, and happily were offered shade if we wanted it. The lunch was, as usual, a delight, but especially for me, as a vegetarian, because I was this time offered my own menu with two options for the first and second courses. The deserts... More

I've been to Reads a few times and always enjoyed it. It's kind of a throwback in someways offering a traditional fine dining experience. My wife and I had the taster menu with matching wines...the first few courses were great, well balanced. I especially enjoyed the sea bass. The last few courses became very heavy...it may be the fact that... More

We knew Reads by its good reputation but had never been until recently. We can thoroughly recommend the set price three course lunch. The setting is delightful. Amazing food coupled with service that could not be faulted. The timing between courses was perfect and each course was prepared and presented to the highest standard. Would recommend and will definitely go... More

Our party of twelve had lunch at Reads. All commented on the excellent food, charming surroundings and very friendly and attentive staff. Thank you Reads, absolutely wonderful. With pre-lunch drinks and wine, the bill was under £50 per person.

My husband and I went to Read's and decided to have the tasting menu. We did not want to have one thing on the tasting menu and it was changed for us without any issues. The food was amazing! The service was fantastic. The time between the courses was perfect as you had enough time to take a breath before... More

We visited as a family as part of my 21st birthday celebrations and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We had the taster menu with accompanying wines and found it to be incredible. After some olives and a small soup apertures, we started with a salmon and asparagus dish which we all loved (see attached photos). We then had a chicken ham... More

Came here around a month ago for lunch, food was nice but didn't have a wow factor for me! I had confit duckling, the dish I thought was an average joe dish, maybe I chose the wrong main course ? Maybe it's better dining in the eve, really nice service can't knock it, wine and drinks list as long as... More
