We all went for the same starter of crab and prawn cocktail and declared it a triumph! The portions were generous and it was fresh, tasty and delicious. The Sauvignon Blanc washed it down a treat! The mussels which two of us had were probably the best mussels I have ever eaten. They were absolutely delicious. It was obvious that... More

Saw a recommendation in The Times one Saturday - ate in The Boathouse frequently over the past week whilst staying in Seaview on holiday. In particular the mussels and salmon linguine was delicious! But the lobster thermador was also good. Food was piping hot: plates were hot. Staff were very helpful.

My wife had never been to the Isle of Wight, so off we went. No regrets about the choice (fairly random, if I'm honest) of The Boathouse. Lovely position on the seafront, exceptionally helpful and welcoming staff, a well-appointed room which was clean and inviting, and a very pleasant meal in the busy bar/restaurant featuring the seafood we were looking... The food here is terrific. Freshly cooked, large portions, wide ranging menu and friendly service. Grab a table and order at the bar. They also serve smaller portions of some of the mains which is particularly welcome for those of us who want something lighter, particularly at lunchtimes.

I've reviewed this place before and the food has always been good. Tried a roast dinner this week. Oh dear. It was like Food For The Masses. No flavour, trendy crispy veg so crispy my knife couldn't touch the broccoli, small rubbery tasteless "roast" potatoes, a teaspoon of gravy, lamb so thin....all really dreadfully disappointing. Wish I'd had to something... More

We sat at a table outside with great views towards Portsmouth. Good menu with interesting choice of specials. Seafood particularly good. Dessert selection has been very limited in the past, with no fruit options, but now improved. Good service

Nice hotel if you have a sea view but our friends did not and found their room small cramped and overlooked car park! It was same peice as sea view room so they were miffed to say the least! We thought £130 per night a bit steep for the actual accommodation. Restaurant was ok but had to send ine meal... More

You won't be disappointed by a visit to the boathouse! Good quality gastro pub food is the order of the day here with a good selection of beers and wines . Decor and surroundings are well appointed and there is space for dogs in the bar or a more traditional restaurant setting . When sunny be sure to take in... More

A busy pub with lots of atmosphere..you need to book to avoid disappointment. Lots of new inexperienced staff..service was slow, so we didn't bother with pudding.

This was yet another visit for us - one of our favorites. Every time we go the IoW we go here to eat ...... And it never disappoints. Fish and meat are equally good. Many thx!
