We've been here a couple of times for bacon sarnies, but never managed an evening meal, as you can't book and we're not keen on hanging around when we're hungry. But we walked past on a chilly week-night, peeked in, there was a table and we snaffled it. The food was as good as the lunchtime offerings. I had a... More

What a lovely place! Fantastic food. Everyone in a party of 8 loved their meal choices. Warm & Friendly atmosphere. Sweets in a bowl by the door on the way out! I look forward to the next time I'm in Cowes to go back for more delicious food.

Have been trying to get in there since last year due to the reputation it has, but its always been full, but this was a quiet Monday out of season so we succeeded in getting a table when the restaurant was relatively quiet. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is happy. Drinks and menu options are all on the... More

We had missed lunch and were looking for somewhere which was still doing good food at 4. We found the Mess Canteen and the menu seemed interesting, if perhaps a bit pricy. The decor, as you may have guessed from the title, is the current trend of shabby chic but I feel that in this instance it is a little... More

We were passing and thought this looked interesting. Really glad we went in for lunch. The staff were lovely and the food was great - a bit different to the norm. Some good vegetarian options too. The decor was laid back and quirky with some cool touches. Blackboards on the tables with chalk for the kids (and big kids) to... More

Just stopped in for a quick lunch while on holiday in Cowes and me and my family were welcomed by a lovely waitress called Harriet who was chatty and friendly with us (and complimented my eyebrows)! Ordered a lovely salad and I recommend the Rosemary fries! Overall a hidden gem with a gorgeous interior, delicious menu and amazing staff, would... More

Interesting but not sure I would return. Menu chalk boards are chaotic, no starters or puds. Interesting options. We opted for 'meat feast' special, which was rare steak, buttermilk, horseradish advacado and blue cheese taco. Only 3 wines, white, red or rose. House red was great.. merlot reasonably priced. Food arrived on a wooden board (am not a fan) 2... More

This is a super little place with locally sourced ingredients. Lots of choice, and good drinks menu too. Coffee was very good too. We had the cola marinated buttermilk fried chicken with rosemary fries, really delicious and the meat was really falling off the bone. Would be really happy to go back again.

We stopped for a quick lunch on the way to our hotel, we had some great small food but would have had more if not eating later, friendly staff made us feel welcome, we took a picture of the menu which is on the wall only so as to remember what to choose from at the table, i have been... More

If I hadn't been with someone who knew, and liked this restaurant I would have walked on by. Which would have been a real shame as the burgers were great, the rosemary chips delish and the service excellent. Take note owners, most eating places are having a spring clean and you need to do the same. The outside is grubby... More
