This is our annual visit and we wouldn't return unless it was still this good! It was one of the first pubs to receive a Michelin star and is still quietly orchestrated. Nicola always welcomes us, as well as the smell of the kitchen and the range of draught beverages and carefully selected wines. The homemade nibbles ( pork Bon... More

Lovely building but I think decor needs updating. Nice warm welcome and good customer service throughout. All the food was very well cooked, nicely presented and hot but a little unbalanced, I say this because my wife had scallops for starters, very well cooked and naturally sweet so why would you want an exceptionally sweet sultana purée to accompany them?... Four of us had a meal here for my 30th. We were all impressed with the food and service, plus the drinks (probably the best mocktail I've ever had - like a rhubarb smoothie!). We had some black pudding bread as an appetiser, I had mushrooms to start, some beautiful pork belly for main and treacle tart for dessert. If... More

First time I visited, I was very disappointed. Revisited due to peer recommendations and was pleased I had - great food and service. This visit, food was good but service was a negative. Efficient but unfriendly. Prompt but forced. It distracted from what was a nice meal. Not sure if I I'll visit again.

Rating is probably generous as I really don't like to give negative reviews. Had planned to visit this Restaurant but hours drive from home had resulted in a few cancelled reservations. I'd read reviews on several sites and was looking forward to a good experience. From being met service was poor. Waitresses were polite but I must say clearly inexperienced... More

You wouldn't expect such fab food in the middle of nowhere but The Stagg didnt dissapoint. Ok, I knew it was a Michelin starred pub before we visited, but it lived up to its accolades. I was especially pleased to see some great drinks for drivers as unless you're staying it is a bit of a trek to get to.... More

This restaurant had been recommended to us by a number of friends and whilst we weren't disappointed I'm not sure it totally lived up to our expectations. I can't quite say why because the food was excellent and whilst not overly expensive it certainly couldn't be described as inexpensive. It would have been nice, perhaps if we could have sat... More

I visited a year ago and was very disappointed with salty food and slow service caused by insufficient staff. What a change! Lovely welcome, plenty of friendly smiling waitresses and very good food. It's a great building which also has a well stocked bar. So glad I revisited.
