This Papermill restaurant was recommended to us by friends so we booked a table of four on the 2nd of Nov 2020, we arrrived at 15:00 and was shown to our table upstairs number 61. We placed a drinks order, but did wait a while...before they arrived. Our order of vodka bitter Lemon +2 a coke, and 1 H20. The vodka n bitter lemon became vodka tonic water, the coke became Diet Coke not what was ordered, and we were not asked if we would accept the changes, they were just given?? Not a good start. we then placed our order for dinner and was advised they was No Steak? Not good, as that's what's we were looking forward too. Whilst dining the lights kept flicking which was distracting us, orther diners also complained about the lighting. Eventually staff did something to sort out the flicking, but it started flicking again. After dinner we ordered more drinks, but sadly we are still waiting!! as we left due to the delay. When our bill arrived this was incorrect extra drink was added, once staff was advised the bill was then re presented correctly. Regarding the levels of staff on duty, at the time we only saw two members of staff working the upstairs. There was also number of tables available, but not used whilst we were there. The whole experience on the day was not great and needs looking into.More

Started off my Saturday morning with a brunch at the paper mill. Started my Saturday off right. The avocado was generous and fresh, seasoned and delicious. The chef added some smoked salmon just for a treat and the eggs... let’s just say that it was...eggactly what I was looking for. Chef Matt, you have done it againMore

The Paper Mill staff follow the Covid guidlines perfectly. Situated near the river and outaide seatings available. The food and drinks we ordered arrived very quickly and tasted really good. Well done to the team for managing the crowd calmly.

Great Covid regulations in place. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food was lovely and served in a reasonable time frame. Nice pub next to the river, nice on a summers day to sit outside.

Very Unhappy with new Caesar Salad ! Always enjoyed it here, but was served in a much smaller bowl and didn’t have the egg and anchovies it used to. What a shame :-(More

Well organised CV-19 aware venue. Greeting host listed the options and procedures for a slightly busier afternoon clientele than we were expecting. QR code to register our presence, another QR code to order and pay from our outside table. 5 minutes later, food and drink...as ordered. Very efficient with a lively atmosphere building for the evening in great weather - a shame we could not stay.More

My wife and I came here while staying locally for a couple of weeks and this could’ve easily been a regular venue for us. We wandered over about 20:30 on a Saturday night. There were tables inside and we were seated at a large round...table. The man a short guy with a beard was very pleasant and directed us to our table. From there it went downhill. The waitress a female with glasses and a pony tail continually ignored us. She sounded South African (just to name and shame this bad waitress). Others around us who were arriving were getting menus and drinks and the waitresses attention. So we finally asked for a menu and was given the biggest board of menus where others were given neat hand menus. After 25 minutes of being ignored we got up and left. I told the guy with the beard and he apologised. I’m not sure why this waitress deliberately ignored us. Myself being the darkest skinned person in the area wanting to be served can only speculate and feel that it was something personal that the waitress did not like about me. Disgusted with this venue.More

Ordered the vegan chili. Description was basmati rice & guacamole. No mention of curry. It was totally inedible. Thankfully my table mates had lots of fries they shared & I ate the rice. They ordered sandwiches ( fish & chips - hard to ruin &...the somerset brie & cranberry - she thought it was very good). The cole slaw with the brie/cranberry was basically just onion & thus inedible for her but it wasn't listed on the menu so wasn't something she had planned on eating anyway. Curry is such a strong taste & definitely something that people either like or don't. There's no excuse for that not being listed as an ingredient. the chili was also the most expensive of the 3 dishes by 4 pounds. I was definitely not a satisfied diner.More

Lovely pub situated next to the canal. The menu is a typical pub menu that isn't too expensive and has just about everything you need. Good service and friendly staff.

Yes, BUT its only free parking if you sign in when you get inside the pub (you can choose 4 hours or 24 hours). Its run by a parking company who monitor it with in and out cameras, so do not forget!
