The food here was beautiful however there was a long wait for the food. The pub also does take out fish and chips and demand is high, now we know why! The battery was crisp, the fish was light, everything you could ask for. Also had a wonderful bacon and bubble and squeak starter which was lovely but would have... More

Spent Thursday evening here with my parents and sat outside in the sun in patio area of pretty garden. Waited a while after choosing from menu so went in to place order. Then waited another 30 minutes for two starters, one of which was bread ! Waitress/owner (?) Came out to talk to party on table behind us so we... More

Great country location. Great food. Great wash rooms. Great wine. Great layout. Sadly the service is stretched, leaving customers unimpressed.

We have visited several times over the past few years. The food has been good quality , varied, and a little pretentious on a couple of occasions; chef has ideas above his staion, perhaps. I wouldn't say it represents best value but the surroundings are good if you are in a group and the service generally is polite and attentive.... More

Four of us arrived and I proceeded to book in, there was another group in front of us. I had booked a table for 2.30pm. The group in front were told to go to the bar area. When I booked in I was told in no uncertain terms that I had already been told to wait in the bar area.... More

The in-laws booked a Sunday lunch to celebrate their anniversary. We arrived early and we were seated straightaway, but between then and when we actually had food arrive to the table was over an hour. Yes OK the food was well cooked and presented, but the service was terribly slow. If there's a large party in, tell diners that there... More

The Dukes Head is well situated to meet friends and family. My family took me there for Father's Day lunch after a great time in Hatfield Forrest. It was very good and we enjoyed the food however I would like to see GF, V and VG listed against the menu items please. All in all, good beer, good value and... More

My wife and I visited the Dukes head last Friday and had a fantastic evening. There's a great choice of starters and mains but I recommend the beer battered haddock and chips, just fantastic. Also I would recommend the 3 x squirrels fizz, from stortford , a real gem. Add to that wonderful, friendly service and it's somewhere that's well... More

Managed to get an afternoon booking for Sunday lunch. Very pleasant sitting outside in the sun. Three of us had roast lamb which was very good and a good size portion although we realised afterwards we had missed out in yorkshire puds. I know these are normally just served with roast beef but increasingly i find them served with all... More

We had a table booked for 2pm on a Sunday. We had to get our own menus and our order wasn't taken until 2:30pm. The main courses arrived 4pm, yes 2 hours after we sat down!! We weren't the only ones complaining about the timeliness of the service, other groups were walking out without paying! Food was good, but left... More
