Travelled a long way to visit this pub as we had read the reviews. Visited on a Saturday at about 1pm - very few customers. Menu very limited - in fact all main meals were crossed off the menu???? The food we had - sandwiches were ok , but nothing special. Shame it wasn't a nicer day because the garden... More

Hi Charlie I am sorry our menu was limited the day you visited we were in the middle of changing menu having acquired a new chef, not that this is any excuse for having a restricted menu for our loyal patrons. Please try us sometime soon now that this has been sorted, I am confident you will not be disappointed... More

Went for Sunday lunch. The location was lovely and the service was good. Beer was local and reasonably priced. Sunday dinner was very good just could of had a few more potatoes. Would recommend a visit thought the setting is lovely and would definitely visit again.

Great location, I booked with OpenTable so my actual visit can be verified, but probably our first trip to the Candlestick didn't occur on the most favourable day. The veggie starter for my wife and a friend of ours was good, albeit not outstanding, and mine was OK although the menu didn't mention that the risotto balls with smoked haddock... More

Hi G_The_Traveller, Thanks for your review. Yes, I have to admit that Monday was a bit of a "Faultyt Towers" day. It was our new chef's first day and if it could go wrong it did go wrong, including the fire alarm going off due to a fault, but all in all we did overcome these problems with minimal inconvenience... Our son introduced us to this Gastro Pub close to Hatfield House, and we were not disappointed. Great friendly Service and the meal was superb, in fact if you are coming here make sure you are hungry as the portions are Large! That said the Chicken and Leak and Ham Pie was fantastic , and my family all tried different... More

Seated at the crown of Wildhill, boasting fabulous views of the Herts Countryside, this gem of a free house cycles well kept ales from Tring and other Herts Craft breweries. Expect to find a good selection of fine wines to complement their inventive gastro dishes like pheasant pie and three bird roast. Always hot and beautifully presented, the food demonstrates... More

Had been here before on a Sunday and couldn't even get through the front so thought a re visit was in order to see why it was so popular. No problem getting seated on an early Wednesday evening as only three others there. Friendly and welcoming service. Nice hot chocolate served in a hot glass and menu sounded nice which... More

We were looking to go for somewhere to eat and was in the area so picked Candlestick. We called before hand to check if it was wheelchair accessible and they said that they would put the ramp out for us. We booked a table for 3pm on Sunday. When we arrived we were shown to our table but due to... More
