The food was very nice but very overpriced for a basic pub lunch. Whilst waiting at the bar for a drink the manager served a local before he served me which I found quite rude .

Dear Customers, the weather is improving and you are all coming out to visit us in your droves and we love to see you. Problems with regard to who is next in line is easily sorted at the bar and there is no favouritism, if you are next, say so, problem solved. Pricing, come on, we have touched on this... More

Food was of average quality had better and bigger prawn salads. My child's portion was of a good size or thought over priced at £6.25. wife's pie lid was over cooked and could of done with a jug of gravy rather just rely on what's in the pie.

The produce served here at The Royal Oak is all food standard agency Class 'A'. We know of no "better" quality. "Bigger"? Served with care, a 10 inch plate is filled with iceberg lettuce, crispy leaf salad, red onion, cucumber, baby salad tomatoes, more than 1/4lb north Atlantic Prawns, generous helping of our Marie-Rose sauce, topped with salad cress. accompanied... We visited this pub for dinner on a recommendation, and to be fair the staff were very friendly, but the interminable wait for our food to arrive sadly marred the experience. We arrived at 6pm and were the first customers. My main dish was fine, but my Son's chicken nuggets were over cooked and to charge £6.25 for a child's... More

It is a shame this customer misunderstood the clear delivery window they were given when choosing their food. to order, or not, is always a choice. We are honest with ETA's as I want happy customers, and it is not in our interest to mislead customers which leads to this type of review. At 6pm this customer was already 15th... More

The downs are great for walking the dogs and working "up" an appetite. Sunday Lunch at the oak for a family of 8, age range 7 to 55, was very enjoyable. Our pre booked table in the games area allowed access to the pool table generating great entertainment post meal . The menu and beer selection was good with friendly... More

arrived at 2:25, before the close of lunch service. ordered drinks and wanted to order food. the man on the bar clearly didn't want us to order any food. after looking through the menu we decided on simple chips and whitebate to make it easier. the man then proceeded to tell us that the kitchen had been shut down (40... The Royal Oak Is sorry to admit that a previous issue regarding staff has raised its head once more. We are currently running extensive online advertising to replace missing staff, and also on our website, all, as yet, to no avail. We so hope to soon be able to offer a full compliment of staff to service our commitment to... More

The pub was very accommodating. We booked the table and took all the dogs for a glorious walk in the woods and on the Downs. They all had a brilliant time. The hosts welcomed the dogs but we left them in the car. We were able to see them from our table. Our host was so attentive and pleasant. The... More

Lovely dog friendly pun on a lovely setting on the Downs All of the food was very good and the veggie burger was excellent The only minus was our waitress was so apologetic for a few things being off the menu to the point of being patronising It's great to have good customer service but this was over the top.... We have not long moved to this area, my wife came across the Royal Oak when driving around to familiarise herself with the surroundings. What a great little find, we went for an early dinner, lovely well kept garden, comfy seating, high standard of customer service and a chef who can cook a steak how you ask for it. For... More
