Excellent pub grub, quickly and efficiently served in a small, thatched-pub that is full of old oak beams. The menu is not too long but new dishes are added from time to time. All the regular pub items are available, mostly from local growers/suppliers. The fish and chips are particularly reccommended. Good selection of local beers and cider and a... More

Lovely renovated building full of beams and aged character in the middle of Bringsty Common. Varied menu with plenty of choice, though in places there is a lack of imagination, considering the cost of each dish, particularly with respect to the vegetables. I am open to correction by the management on this but some dishes were obviously prepared and cooked... More

Most probably one of the most beautifully located Pubs in England, reasonably remote but easily accessible, set in rolling natural Commonland with Commanding views and providing optional external seating to take in the Vista (subject to weather). We have visited on several occasions, Lunch and Evening Meal and at various times of the year, never dissapointed, beautiful ancient Timber Framed... More

It is like going back in time opening the door to this amazing pub! Fantastic place, full of character and with amazing food, not pub grub by any standards, much more than that! A wonderful place to visit and lucky locals for being close enough to be a regular here!

Excellent food, beautiful location, stunning pub. When we arrived at 4.45 we were told that they were not serving food until 6pm, we were unsure whether to wait but with the best scampi and chips we've had in a long time we were glad we did!!

My wife choose the fish in batter and enjoyed it, chips were replaced with salad which lacked imagination and quite a few ingredients needed to make an interesting and varied accompaniment. I ordered the Scampi & Chips, Salad Tartare sauce. At over £12.00 it should have been better than your average Pub Scampi at around the £8.00 to £10.00 mark.Scampi... More

Firstly thank you for finding the time to review us on Trip Advisor and the compliments about the pub and garden. We are very disappointed that you went away unhappy with the food and certain comments that you have made are making us review some aspects of the menu. As always we strive to please and are terribly sorry about... More

We came looking for this pub on a cold June night, we are new to the area and had heard good reports, the pub was built in the 16th Century and unique. We arrived about 6.30pm to be welcomed by a very friendly landlady and a roaring fire. How nice. The pub is hidden away off the main road and... More

Thank you for a lovely review, we are glad you came to us on a recommendation because word of mouth is very important to us. As we are situated on the common the track can get a little bumpy however this has since been addressed by the council. Booking is always advisable but not a necessity although weekends do get... busy restaurant/pub on a Bank Holiday Monday ( although usually closed Mondays) scampi torpedos obviously not wholetail and chips freezer to fryer variety. Big bill for very below average food, been here before, should have learnt my lesson then, beautiful building in a lovely location so I expect they will have a sound through trade but not many would bother... I was recommended the Live & Let Live by the B&B we stayed at and I'm glad I took their advice. It was the perfect place to celebrate my mother's birthday. They accommodated our relatively large party providing a high chair for my niece despite the fact the pub is quirky and higgledy piggly. The food was delicious and arrived... More
