We came in for lunch while out on a bike ride in The New Forest. The pub itself is beautiful and very clean, with a large beer garden and lots of outdoor seating. Our food was very tasty and the service was great. The only...downside is the high price of food, but we understand that's just the way the world is at the moment! Overall, its a lovely pub with good food and great service in the beautiful New Forest.More

Chosen as it had good Google reviews and wasn’t in the centre of Lyndhurst. Nice location, great decor and atmosphere. Good and sensibly limited food options. I had the burger (£15) and my wife had the trout (£17). Fish was excellent and the burger good...(my fault- I should have said hold the sauce which overpowered the taste of the meat). V good chips Nice white wine and a good pint (London Pride - obvs)! Very clean loos and very good service.More

I turned up at The Oak Inn for a birthday lunch, having booked the table for the wrong day! Megan(?) the very lovely Irish waitress quickly & efficiently sorted the problem and organised a nice table for me and my friends. She was so understanding...and made every effort to fix my mistake and ensure we had a good experience. It made all the difference to me and I am very grateful. The food and wine was excellent too. We were all very happy customers and I would highly recommend this pub.More

Had a group dinner with 11 friends and it was just a great experience all around. The food was very very good (I try not to use amazing, but it was). I had the pork chop and my wife the trout with muscles, both dishes...were fresh and tasty. The crab starter was superb. To add to the great food, there is a good selection of wines and beer, the team at the Oak Inn were very friendly, and the location adds to the overall experience. Oh! Desserts were also very good.More

My partner and I come across The Oak Inn at the right time during a long bike ride. As we entered we were greeted by the fantastic staff who showed us to a table outside under the canopy. Jo, who served us was amazing, such...a lovely and helpful lady. The food we had, burgers and chips were gorgeous, so very very tasty!! The pub itself is a perfect place to go and eat and to have a drink or two. If we get chance, we will be back to sample more from the menu. We'd highly recommend The Oak Inn!More

We came here as a mid cycle refreshment stop on Sunday and ended up staying for lunch. The roast dinners are second to none! Massive Yorkshire puddings, beautiful vegetables, the beef cooked to perfection and the pork had the best crackling I've seen! The team...were very friendly and attentive and the wait for food and drinks not long at all. 10/10 would recommend!More

Booked online for Sunday Lunch inside at 2pm, we arrived early for a drink, sat outside and they accommodated us for lunch much earlier despite being incredibly busy. We were served by, and watched, Anita dealing very well with the volume of difficult requests and...commented on her excellent customer service. The roast beef was excellent as well. Would recommend it for a good Sunday lunch experience.More

Seating is very typical, maybe bit hard and unstable table Service was good, fast friendly. Food… starters to share great, and i also enjoyed my main dish a lot. (big portions) enough choices on the traditional menu. Certainly worth a visit

I came off my motorcycle yesterday at the end of the road by the pub and was taken off to hospital. When I was discharged 4 hours later and returned to the pub I found that they had put my bike in a safe place...and then looked after me for the 2 hours I had to wait for Recovery to turn up. As I wasn't driving I was able to have a lovely meal washed down with a couple of pints of London Pride that was in beautiful condition straight from the cask. I would thoroughly recommend this watering hole on the edge of the forest with its great caring staff.More

We last visited The Oak Inn in 2016 and had a fabulous dinner so yesterday while returning home to East Sheen from the Isle of Wight decided to return for lunch. Again we were not disappointed. My husband had haddock and chips - with minted...peas which he said was excellent. I had bruschetta and chips. My bruschetta with heritage tomatoes, olives and capers was the best I have ever had and my triple cooked chips were excellent too. If there was any downside it was that service was very slow but that was to be expected with a small staff of two during a very busy lunchtime period. However this would not stop us from returning and hopefully we will not have an 8 year gap again.More

Had a great late lunch midweek at this historic New Forest pub. Pub classics - fish and chips and a burger - all spot on. Last visited 10 years ago and must not leave it as long next time as it’s a perfect tranquil spot...when in the new forest area. Both the staff members were friendly and welcoming, looking after us very well. I imagine parking would be a bit of a nightmare at busy times so probably best to walk or cycle. Take a stroll down Pinkney Lane as well, lovely old houses.More
