We used to love this pub. Decent food (nothing too extravagant), reasonable pricing with nice and friendly service. Also good atmosphere. We went there for Christmas Eve (booked and pre-ordered food in advance) and it was awful, truly, utterly awful. Food was cold, insipid, badly prepared and presented. Total lack of service (wrong order, wrong bill). Atmosphere was just plain.... More

Lovely looking pub Cosy and appears welcoming Lovely waitress who served us well. Two of us had the soup which was ok - and we all had the sandwiches. But - Oh dear. Rolls with no butter-very dry- a tiny piece of ham . English mustard instead of whole grain which was mentioned on menu - and that was it.... More

Service was very slow. Only ordered a sandwich. Waited nearly an hour. When it arrived it was nothing special- chips were over cooked. The waiter grunted at us when we asked how much longer the food would take. Not impressed and won't be returning anytime soon.

So what did I expect. Certainly not spending an hour after our starters before anyone noticed that we were not eating. When someone did and we said we were still waiting for our main course they were shocked. The food was good when it arrived and we enjoyed ourselves even though we had a wait. Noisy as usual at this... More

The fact that they managed to serve one course in two hours says it all -- and we had young children with us. Sunday lunch: the roast beef was tough and the dish was scarcely warm. Had to be begged to clear the plates. Then to produce desert menus. We ordered four mini deserts with coffees: had drunk the coffees... More

On arrival the place looked cosy, staff gathered round the end of the bar not acknowledging us for a good few minutes, then the manager rudely spoke to her staff and told him to serve us. The dining area was very quiet for a Thursday evening, we were sat in a little corner out of the way which had no... More

My first visit here for about 15 years. Parking right outside. Lovely looking place and in good condition. A couple of open fires and the place was warm and cosy. Take a map if you need the toilet as it is a maze. I was served in good time and a lovely choice of beers for me. My only down... More

Beautiful setting, lovely inside, service and food very disappointing. Sharing Platter for 2 came (we ordered 2 as there were 4 of us) with just one portion of butter on each. Steak Pie had just 4 small pieces of steak, few mushrooms (I think) and a sprinkling of gravy. Shepherds Pie, watery, tasteless and a very minimum amount of meat.... More

Booked for Sunday lunch on arrrival we waited 5 mins to be seated as it appeared they were short of staff. The service was polite but very slow the restaurant was busy but only 2 staff visible and organisation seemed haphazard. It was a great shame as the food was excellent, but perhaps I would think twice before returning
