Just returned from another wonderful stay here and this time took my father and his wife who weren't disappointed! The owner Jayne is always welcoming and the food is absolutely out of this world! There is a great mid-week deal which includes a 3 course meal and accommodation and it's such great value. The hotel is in tranquil surroundings and... More

Very nice food, although a little overpriced, and I prefer plain simple food rather than poncey food. It would also have been nice to be able to choose where to sit yourself. Staff were warm and welcoming, and very helpful.

We booked for a B&B, without much back research; unsure what it would be like, as I remembered a pretty rough farm labourer's pub, known for being raucous at closing-time. We received a friendly greeting and were shewn to a comfortable, well-appointed room, and decided to book a room for dinner. We were greeted in a friendly manner, and seated... More

My wife took me here last night with friends to celebrate my 50th birthday. The service was friendly and casual which I like,no rush and as we were busy chatting this was perfect. The interior decoration is captivating with lots of different things in the rooms, very much reminded me of a 80's or 90's dining experience which I really liked. The owner was... We stayed just down the road from The Three Lions and on the first day of our holiday I wandered over and bumped into the owner and head chef Mike, what a lovely man he was too. I've been lucky to eat in some top places and this was a really unexpected find, unpretentious and friendly. After a meal with... More

I booked a room here at 5.45 on the same night as my stay after arriving at another hotel and deciding that I was not going to stay there for a number of reasons. When I arrived it was very quiet but after ringing the bell I was greeted by a friendly face and happily showed to my room and... More

I was going to write a lengthy review on our experience at the Three Lions last Saturday evening however, after some consideration I decided against it partly because it would be a waste of ink and time; but mainly for the reason that the proprietors do not seem to like criticism (Written responses to other aggrieved diners on TripAdvisor.); thus,... It is very difficult to respond where there nothing specific to reply to & it is clear we were just not for you.I am glad you could not fault the cooking. When John Cleese dined with us not long ago he did say he enjoyed his meal,no mention of Fawlty anything. More

I booked this restaurant for my mums surprise 70th birthday for 14 people a few months previously and the owners were very accommodating in our requests. The menu pretty much had every type of meat/fish you could wish for so everyone found it hard to choose what to have which is always a good sign. The food itself was amazing,... More

For me as a chef it is all about the taste so I really appreciate the comments. We do serve large portions being in a farming & forest community. For those customers with smaller appetites we suggest sharing a starter or a dessert which we are quite happy to do & could be a perfect idea to suit your next visit. Although we were not acknowledged as soon as we walked in, it could have been due to the staff being busy. All three courses were very good. my only comment would be that although we chose different main meals they were plated with the same vegetables. The puddings were to die for and the wine matched perfectly. The young waiter was... More

As the title says the food was delicious and the service friendly. As a traveller on my own I was made to feel very welcome. I ate from the a la carte menu and had the gravadlax, turbot and sorbet. It was all lovely but the turbot was exceptional. I highly recommend eating here.
