As usual, the food and service were exceptional and thank you so much for letting the kids sample the world's best chocolate pudding after they had finished school. It really was the perfect finale to a great lunch.

This places produces the kind and quality of food that used to be readily available 30 years ago in Michelin listed (in particular the Bib Gourmand ones) hotels/restaurants in villages all over France. Alas no longer! a great 3 course lunch £23.50 rich wild mushroom soup a brilliant pork confit with lovely veg and a sublime sauce with a chocolate... More

The room was clean and large. We had a room with a balcony overlooking a well maintained garden. There was plenty of tea and coffee. The TV was a little small for the size of the room. The ensuite had a lovely shower. I was hoping to get a drink in the evening. Although we did the place was mainly... More

My daughter and I stayed in this lovely quiet rural place in the new forest. could not do more to help. I had a lovely meal in the restaurant, the puddings were out of this world. We took a walk on the heathland of Burley. Drove though Rhinefield and Bolderwood drive (forestry commission) and took a walk at the deer... More

Has always been a "gourmet" restaurant since it first opened 20yrs ago. However I am sure it has been affected by "drink drive". What is dinner without a good bottle of wine !! My guest had a Wild Mushroom and Asparagus Starter followed by Duck Confit. Myself a Goats Cheese salad followed by Lamb Loin and Trimmings. I also managed... More

Super welcome, with excellent food, beautifully presented, appetizing, and help in choosing less filling dessert. Altogether a wonderful time.

I booked a table here for my Girlfriends birthday, having high hopes on arrival in a beautiful setting with a quintessential country Inn. Even the "fresh" air made it very clear we were deep in farmland. Our high hopes we rather dampened upon entering the building, to sights of 1970 carpets, along with all the ornements out of your grandmothers... More

We are in a bit of a quandary about your comments. We do not charge for tap water,we have a discretionary tipping policy in place & we also play background music in the bar area which filters through to the restaurant.I also noticed that the only other review you have done is for a competitor down the road which you gave... When in the area we always head for this superb restaurant. Mike ( owner and head chef) and his lovely wife Jane have made us very welcome over the past eighteen or so years we have been dining here. Mike is a passionate chef, local wild mushroom salad is fabulous, the venison and lamb is melt in your mouth tender,... More

Just returned from another wonderful stay here and this time took my father and his wife who weren't disappointed! The owner Jayne is always welcoming and the food is absolutely out of this world! There is a great mid-week deal which includes a 3 course meal and accommodation and it's such great value. The hotel is in tranquil surroundings and... More

Very nice food, although a little overpriced, and I prefer plain simple food rather than poncey food. It would also have been nice to be able to choose where to sit yourself. Staff were warm and welcoming, and very helpful.
