We have reviewed the Peat Spade before but decided to return, this time to dine and stay the night. Nothing much has changed. The basic problem is that the staff behind the bar and hotel reception are way too focused on their local "regulars" to have enough care for mere visitors. On this night it was pouring with rain and the... More

On arrival we were greeted by a somewhat surly barman and throughout the meal the staff seemed distracted aloof. Overall the food was good; however, when the final bill arrived we found ourselves thinking that the evening just lacked something. The pub itself is well presented and cosy.

Very welcoming hosts . Friendly young staff . Nothing was too much trouble . We both had a roast dinner which was very generous portion size . Great variety of veg which we could not resist and therefore had no room for desert - shame !!

Stopped in at the Peat Spade halfway through a circular walk from Stockbridge. We have been here several times before, and this visit lived up to previous experiences. The Sunday roast is excellent, with lovely meat (veg option available with halloumi), Yorkshire pud, roast spuds and loads of veg. The service is really good, with the pub employing a mix... More

Having not been to this goodly inn for some years following a disappointing eating experience, we were very pleasantly impressed with the place today at lunch time. The food was beautifully presented, very tasty and reasonably priced. The cheese souffle was divine with the walnut dressing and the battered hake, the venison pie all delicious. As for the puds -yummmmm!... More

New years day lunch at the Peat Spade was a super way to start 2017. Generous roast dinners with lovely roast veg, fantastic triple cooked chips and a strong wine list at reasonable prices. The pub itself is beautifully decorated. Well worth a trip - though the floor to ceiling flyfishing photos in the loos are a bit of a... More
