Well that was a disappointment. A planned get together with my family, which was ruined really by a poor meal. It didn’t start well with a list of choices that weren’t available, but there was one burger left, which unusually for me I decided to...have…..poor decision. To clarify I wouldn’t normally choose a burger as I find them too large and a lot of bun. No problem here, I laughed when a ‘mini’ bun and burger turned up with a tin of chips(why are they still being served like this?!). Absolutely no garnish and looked un appetising. Not all was lost, it was ok but if you were a person with normal/large appetite you would have gone hungry. My family ate their meals but were not particularly impressed and we made the decision that we wouldn’t eat here again at inflated prices for ordinary food with no thought for presentation. They had also run out of the wine we had planned to have. The day after Mother’s Day, but its Monday surely you would be ready for the new week! There are better places in Romsey and not too far away!More

Lovely staff with good food and great ambience. Lots of space in this large restaurant with ample parking.

We we’re meeting friends staying here. The staff were friendly and helpful, but all seemed to be new with lack of leadership. We had booked for an evening meal and we’re able to bring the sitting forward as they weren’t busy. The food was excellent...and a good variety.More

We came across this pub by chance whilst staying in the area & visited for dinner the night of our special anniversary. We were so glad we did! The food was delicious & the steak perfectly cooked, the staff friendly, atmosphere & surroundings were nice...& we had a great evening. The only thing that let it down was the service when we first arrived.More

Having booked a table for the Wednesday Jazz in the Garden evening, we arrived to find out that the Jazz music was cancelled. However, we grabbed our drinks directly at the bar and sat down outside. Our allocated table was not ideal for eating so...we went asked for a table inside. The starter of puréed beetroot and flat breads was delicious so we were hopeful of the evening. Whilst waiting for our mains, the only other couple in the restaurant had their started but did not like it so paid up and left. Our mains arrived. Burger & Chips was fine but ordinary and no garnish and the chicken dish was bland, dry and had varying temperatures. We asked for a pint of London Pride (Fuller’s Pub) and was told they had run out. A third person came to the table to collect the plates and asked if we wanted deserts which we said yes. After a long wait and the staff walking around looking busy but nobody to serve inside, we gave up, paid & left. Despite a great location, pleasant staff when they spoke to you, the place seemed to lack management and the food was below par.More

Service very slow despite there being very few diners. My husband and I ordered the corn fed chicken with courgette and parmesan rosti and garlic slaw. The meal was very greasy and the rosti was burned. Very poor quality food. A good cook could have...produced better in a domestic kitchen. The courgettes had not been dried to absorb excess moisture, and the addition of a little flour added with the parmesan would have improved the texture. Pistachio traybake was adequate. Will not be rerurning.More

My friend and I got tickets for the opera in the garden evening and had wonderful time. It was well organised and the team were really accomodating and friendly and didn't mind us staying up to closing time to drink. They had a great selection...of wines and spirits (though not especially cheap some were fine wines) and at that price it would be an idea for the staff to be more familiar with the wine list and stock so they can better advise customers. I was told they only had one European wine (pinot grigio) but at the end of the evening discovered they had a lovely French gascogne wine by the glass. We will definitely go back to eat as as the food looked really nice and hope they organise more events.More

Pre booked food for our party of 12 as asked to do so. Meals arrived barely resembling the menu. Obviously plated hours before. Cold, unappetising, congealed and meat tough. Not one meal was as it should have been. Very disappointing. Young waiting staff were helpful...but out of their depth. Several in our party felt unwell for a few days.More

I organised a summer work party at the Cromwell Arms in their marquee. It was a really really hot summers day. It was hot inside the marquee but there was a breeze coming through the sides that could be removed. All the food was delicious,...the roast beef was huge. Although the chicken and fish portions were a little on the small side, it was good quality. Emma, who hosted our event, was really attentive and professional making sure we were happy with the service (which was really good). The highlight for me was the chocolate brownie! I would definitely return here in the future.More

We went here for an early dinner. We have frequented the pub in it’s various guises quite regularly over the past 40+ years. It was quite busy, but the staff found us a table. We ordered a pan fried Duck breast special and a haddock...and chips. We had two pints of London Pride and two small glasses of Prosecco. That was it. The food was very nice. However, £72 for a pub meal in a chain pub? I know we are in a difficult financial and supply environment, but £9 for a small glass of Prosecco? We buy decent whole bottles for less than that. Will have to be desperate to come again.More

The rooms were a very pleasant surprise and priced well. We were greeted by a super friendly manager who seemed to be with us at every occasion during our one night stay - he was really positive and helpful. The food in the evening was...probably a 6 or 7 out of 10 and breakfast was good as were the drinks. The rooms were a little noisy and could possibly be helped by sound proofing on the doors and possibly carpet on the hall floors - it sounded like someone was tap dancing as they walked down. No aircon so I guess it could get hot but that wasn’t an issue for us. Excellent location and I would probably stay there again in the future.More
