I had passed this place many times over the years and thinking I would like to visit, this Mother's Day we decided we will stop and check it out! Straight away this lovely young waitress welcomed us and we asked if there was any tables available and there wasn't, due to what day it was we were fully expecting that... More

Friendliest pub in Hampshire? Today it certainly was not. The man behind the bar was so rude and abrupt we only asked if there was by chance a table free for 3 people to which he responded no and walked off. Very unwelcoming and will definitely not return. The staff at longbridge mill are much more friendlier and would do... More

Visited the J&H last weekend to meet friends for Sunday lunch - this was meant to be a treat, but was completely the opposite leaving us very frustrated, disappointed and annoyed. As soon as we were shown to our table, the waitress hovered despite us asking for a few minutes to say hello, settle down and look at the menu... More

My wife and I visited for a Sunday lunch. We did not make a reservation and sat at a table near the bar. The pub was not busy and our food arrived on time. I had a roast and my wife had a Chicken and bacon salad. I have absolutely no complaints, only that the atmosphere was a little unexciting,... More

Visited for lunch. One mouthful of ham, egg and chips and felt sick! Too much oil on the plate and is all I could taste! Disgusting. Ordered a sandwich as an alternative. The brown bread was dry and the supposed coleslaw sitting on a piece of cos lettuce was grey and old looking. Totally unappetising. A complete waste of money... More

We used to frequent this pub to eat fairly frequently but our last couple of visits were very disappointing. The pasta was overcooked or undercooked, steaks were tough or incinerated, and we were the only folks there once or twice. This must say something. The coffee machine is cleaned out at 9pm sharp so no after dinner coffee.

Popped in on our way back from High Wycombe to Gosport around 6:00pm. Nice welcome and good choice menu plus a few specials. The pub was not busy when we arrived so the food came out quite quickly and was hot and fresh. Burger good size and chips proper size and fluffy. 'Hand made' Cornish pasty did look a little... More

Definitely a food rather than a drinking pub. Had a super lunch catching up with an old friend. We both decided to try one of the home made pies. I had chicken and ham hock and my friend steak and ale. Both were superb, traditional pub grub. I thought the bill very reasonable for a large lunchtime meal. We didn't... More

I visited with my wife and mother for Sunday lunch and found this venue quite outstanding for the quality of food and the unobtrusive service. I will definitely be visiting again, but will book in advance next time as it is very popular. The staff and landlord were all superb.

Having been there several times we were really looking forward to a special meal but we're very disappointed. A very nice South African waiter made a good start but it went down hill after that. The food was very mediocre and poorly served and certainly not value for money. We were not asked how the meal was and gave up... More
