Informal atmosphere- kids could just run around between courses. This was a god send as the service was slow. Food and wine excellent. Cannot fault it other than roast potatoes served with our roasts seemed to be from two different batches. Some of the groups potatoes tasted much more 'home made' than mine, which weren't as nice. Scallop starter excellent... More

We had a wonderful valentines dinner here, food was top notch and I even went to give compliments to the chef, they also use Owtons meat which is always a bonus! Service was a little chaotic and they had a very young girl there whilst she was trying her best should've had some more training in my opinion, if you... More

I had lunch at the nook and cranny with some friends of mine, I ordered the scallops, which were beautiful presented, followed by the roast beef! The Yorkshire pudding was huge and the roast potatoes were simply perfect ( chef must have had a lot of practice), we were however disgusted at the behaviour of the table opposite us, they... More

When adding another guest to our party of seven, we pointed out to the owner that one guest had an allergy to dairy products. He asked us to remind the staff accordingly, which we did.The starters were lovely...Then the main..oh dear. What a huge disappointment. One guest had a hair on her plate which rather put her off eating..They did... More

First visit to the Nook & Cranny, even though we only live a few miles away. Not disappointed though, the starters of Scallops and Duck Liver parfait were great but I was unprepared for the size of the Sunday lunch; the beef was cooked to perfection and the vegetables were splendid. My wife had the Sea Trout and was impressed... More

I am a complete fusspot and asked for changes to my starter and main course - no hesitation to oblige and my two courses were lovely. Husband had the duck liver parfait that he raved about followed by the roast beef. All beautifully cooked. Great house Chardonnay too! We have rebooked.

Driving to a friends holiday home for the weekend , we passed the nook & cranny , which we did originally think was shut down , but then when enquired found that it is only open a few nights a week , so we booked a table for the next night and it did not disappoint, although when you first... What's happened to this restaurant? My wife and I visited last year on a few occasions and it was brilliant, front of house where excellent and the kitchen amazing. Visited last Friday night, new front of house staff totally out of their depth. Did not take jackets, no table clothes, missing cutlery, did not offer to take drinks to the... More

I feel extremely sad when reading your experience in my restaurant. As in all establishments I can only explain that you caught us on what can only be described as a "Bad Night" Yes, the front of house team are new but have been graciously received by our regular customers and typically do a fantastic job of looking after our...
