We had a lovely meal with friends. The food was great and the service was amazing. Would definitely eat there again.

Next door to the Premier Inn (owned by Whitbread) but a Chef & Brewer pub (owned by Greene King) so they merely tolerate each other. Premier Inn recommend it (through gritted teeth) and that's where guests have breakfast. Not able to book lunch or dinner via reception however. The meal itself was chaotic. We found it amusing that no-one seemed... More

Received the new menue via email which looked very impressive in the photo's so decided to give The Ship another try. We were led to a table right away by friendly waiter and ordered drinks,so far so good. The table was on an uneven surface so was wobbling. Ok we moved ourselves to another table and waited for the drinks... More

Four of us visited in evening for a meal made to feel very welcome with good service and delicious food . Only gripe asked for half pint of orange juice and it wasn't a full glass because I didn't want ice ? Half pint of orange juice should be a full glass . The main meals very good size and... More

Told had to wait as they are busy. .. i had been on the road since 4am and hardly stopped so was not impressed and i was very grumpy with the staff. Yet they took it in their stride and remained helpful and friendly which is amazing as i am terrible when grumpy. He was able to get me seated... More

Sunday roast really nice, service was a little slow but I think we went during a lull with a change of staff. Would eat there again.

Had the misfortune of using the Ship Inn for three days while staying in the very good adjoining Premier Inn for a work trip. Breakfast is ok, but it is hard to get it wrong although please note this restaurant has a buffet for the hot selection rather than served on request, so is not that hot. For the evening... More

We visited here on our first night stay at the premier inn. There was a little confusion over where they were going to seat us but that was resolved. We waiting a short while for our food but it was definitely worth the wait. Very well cooked and good portion sizes. There was one member of staff (maybe the manager)... More

I try to find at least some good points when I write my reviews, but here I really struggled ! Three of us dined on Tuesday evening for a work meet up. Tuesday Special was sold (this is 7 pm) out, so no free dessert/starter for us ! Only half the main menu was available, waitress kindly gave us her... More

seven of us ate here and chose to sit in the garden as dogs were not allowed in the pub. The food took 45 mins to come, only three of the seven meals arrived. They were left on the table with no cutlery and no sign of the other meals. It took two trips into the pub to establish these... More
