This pub was only a 5 minute walk from the Snugborough B&B where we were staying. Thankfully, our hostess, Mandy had suggested we try it and made a reservation. We came back the next two nights as well because we liked it so much. It was old and charming, but fresh and clean and airy inside. There was a restaurant... More

We visited The Great Western Arms Pub at the end of our holiday in Blockley. What a wonderful pub! We hadn't booked a table in the restaurant but managed to get a table in the bar. The lady behind the bar and the lovely French waiter were so warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. My husband had... More

After being diverted off the Fosse Way (and skipping breakfast), I almost passed the place but I noticed the front door was open and quickly turned the car around. A quick look at the bar, decor and lobster and champagne promotion I soon realized that i'd struck lucky and quickly ordered some drinks and much needed food. Making the most... More

Went on a Thursday lunchtime, it seemed very quiet. Waited 45 minutes for food. The order came out wrong and was quickly corrected. Fish and chips: fish under cooked, batter runny and fish raw. Chips old. Ham, egg and chips, ham and egg good, again old chips. Burger: good, chips old. Nobody came out to check our meal was ok... More

Steve and his team have transformed the GWA. Swift, unobtrusive and friendly service, tasty food in generous portions, and a convivial atmosphere which serves as a magnet for locals and visitors to this exceptionally charming Cotswolds village. And ample parking too!

Am I the only person that hates dressings on salads, I seem to think I am. Once again I was faced with an unrequested dressed salad with my starter, it was not included as part of the menu. Then again to be faced with the dreaded Balsamic vinegar smeared all over the plate of my main meal. What is wrong... More

We arrived in Blockley around Luch time prior to booking in to our hotel and visited the pub for a bite to eat with a view to eating there later for dinner. The lunch time menu is not huge but adequate and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and chatty and the atmosphere was comfortable so we booked... More

Very good food and lovely service, made to feel very welcome and a relaxed atmosphere, had Hake with asparagus which was really fresh and beautifully presented and sticky toffee pudding for desert which was delicious, nothing was too much trouble and despite it being a very busy and hot day all the staff were smiling, a lovely evening out.

Steve and the team looked after us locals and nine customers/visitors from London. The food was freshly prepared and all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the starters, mains and deserts. The service was superb with great range of wines. We even had the personal touch of 'chauffeur' service back to our hotel. Well done to all at The Western. Hope... More
