3 of us went for lunch here. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff who sat us at a lovely table by the window. There wasn't any other customers when we arrived and I wondered if it was going to be a reflection of things to come.... but it wasn't. Eventually the restaurant started to fill up a... More

I have lunched here on several occasions and this is my favourite Essex restaurant. For my personal choice I would always eat at this pub restaurant. The cleanest establishment I have ever eaten in and that includes the crisply dressed staff who are so helpful and friendly. They will ensure you have a wonderful dining experience. Cleanest toilets I have... More

We had never been to this pub before but read the reviews and decided to give it a go as we had family from America and Suffolk getting together. Splendid choice! The ambience, decor, staff all put together to make the lunch a very enjoyable affair. We had quite a wait before the meal was served but well worth it,... More

Another return visit and very pleased to see that the standards of food and service are still very good and value for money. All four of us were delighted with all our choices. Very busy for Sunday lunch would therefore suggest booking in adavance.

Visited on a Sunday in September with a few family members. Three had roasts, two had the fish & chips. By all accounts the roasts were pretty decent, however the fish & chips were below par. Not much fish, a lot of batter - chips hard, cold dash of green mush (pea purée apparently) for £13.50. The local chippie would... More

I like this restaurant, but, ordered the cod wrapped in parma ham last night and it was more like cod wrapped in gammon - the cut was so thick it was inedible. The waitress did apologise and said it was parma ham but conceded the cut was too thick. Also, the bed of mash was a bit too 'smash', no... More

Booked this restaurant for a family birthday meal. Never been before so no idea what to expect, but what a fantastic place! We were seated in the Garden room which was perfect for our party, which included a baby in a pushchair. The service was outstanding, the staff were so friendly and the food was delicious. The kitchen even prepared... More
