Haven't written a rather damming view a few weeks ago I felt I just had to write a further review following a Wednesday lunchtime visit with friends. We were greeted warmly by an enthusiastic female member of the team. We sat in the bar area and enjoyed our drinks. We then chose 4 of the smaller portion items (whitebait, bread... More

Really enjoyed a last minute lunch in this lovely pub. The food was really tasty and I particularly enjoyed my deep-fried halloumi starter followed by some perfectly cooked sea bream...delicious. Super service too and could really recommend a visit.

We stayed one night on a Sunday, Very quirky rooms, we stayed in 'Benefit of the doubt' extremely comfortable bed and excellent quality linen and towels, the bath is a lovely deep copper bath, great for relaxing in, no shower so might not suite everyone. We had a very nice dinner in the restaurant, all the staff we dealt with... More

Came in for a Sunday roast and the food was fantastic! It is so hard to find descent roast in pubs, but this one was just right! Highly recommend, the only down side, in my opinion, was that the staff were a bit slow.. but that will not stop me from coming in again!

We had a lovely overnight stay at the bell, including breakfast. We also had a meal in the pub in the evening. The menu is set out with a different twist, which is a nice touch. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The pub was nicely furnished. The lodge we stayed in was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We... More

This is your quintessential Sussex village pub but with a modern twist. The pub itself has a fabulous fire, oak beams, and traditional atmosphere. The attached restaurant is cosy and quaint. The modern twist is that the menu is contemporary British. Extensive renovations have been carried out and the ladies loo is sublime. Most important of all the food is... More

Walk into this lovely old pub, past the large open log fire and sense the traditional atmosphere. Helpful and welcoming young staff, quick service and excellent food with ample portions. The 'loving chips' are superb and try the whitebait also. All in all, a good experience and would go again.

Arrived early for our table and was greeted by a member of staff and shown to our table. Menus were given but not required as the staff told us about the SEA BREAM. His choice of White Wine was excellent. Soup of the day too was very nice. We were first in but before we finished our meal the place... More
