The Rose and Crown is our home from home when in need of a comforting plate of food, good company, and good wine. Like any pub it has it's quirks, but honestly we go back time and time again, always greeted with the friendly staff and a prompt drink. The Burger nights are especially our favourites - Mondays. Great burgers... More

Unlike the middle house up the road this place does not show and pretention for being fine dinning but offers up good food at reasonable prices. There is always a specials board and a good range of food for the Veg in the group. There are dinning specials on some days as well special food evenings. The bar has a... More

Had four meals in this pub and together with the local ale were excellent,my only very slight criticism was the quite long wait but was forgotten when the food arrived.

Being local to Ashbourne I have always heard good things about the place... It was mainly 65+ age range in the restaurant but that didn't matter... We ordered just a main meal each which did take quite a long time to arrive thankfully we were given some bread and butter to keep us going...and after the wait I was rather... More

Lovely old village pub with lots of history and quirky accoutrements. Plenty of room at 7.30 but filled up with quizzers by 8.30. Harveys beer was excellent. Couldn't quite understand why a couple of salads took 45 minutes to appear though. For mains I had the risotto- does two asparagus spears count as spring vegetables? It was well cooked but... More

I'm always somewhat dumbfounded by people who work in the service industry and yet make it abundantly clear that they would rather poke out their own eyeballs than offer me a smile or a dessert menu. This was very much the case with the service at the Rose and Crown on Friday night. Our table for 6 was booked for... More

Great outdoor space in front of the pub, full of locals, cozy warm winter fire, friendly, but on occasions folks have indulged beyond their capacity. Regular goings on & sometimes live music. Good selection of drinks but not so keen on their current brand of mixers. Interesting crisps & snacks. Can be hard to get served at the bar as... More

A lovely place with a convivial and relaxing atmosphere. The starters were very generous portions and very tasty. The roast dinners and fish and chips we had were very good. Unfortunately it took too long from ordering until our main courses were served. Without this it would be an excellent rating and we will be back!!

The staff are always very friendly, tapas for lunch or a hearty evening meal. The prices are reasonable and the food is very tasty - we have had several excellent evenings with friends here.

I order my food but took ages and was very disappointed at the quality for the food I didn't even give it to my dog!!!!!!! It ruined my Saturday and put me... More
