This is as expected, a lovely English Gastro pub! Great selection of drinks, great food (although the burger is JUST a burger in a bun) lovely atmosphere, good sized garden friendly staff and good location! Definitely a place to stop at!

Thank you very much for your review and recommendation. Just a couple of points - we do try to avoid the G word when describing our village pub, as to us it conjures up images of the sort of place you only go to to eat, and we need to manage potential customers' expectations - we are, quite simply, a... Went with my partner for a Sunday lunch, the pub was quite busy when we arrived but were served promptly by the bar staff. We then went outside and had our drinks and the food came out promptly and was very tasty

Thank you for your kind comments. Sundays are usually busy and so we do our best to gear up for the demand, and we're pleased to hear that you were served promptly. We look forward to seeing you again. More

We had an excellent pub lunch here on our way back from a camping trip. The service was excellent and the food was too. We loved the artwork on the walls and will definitely be going back.

Thank you for your review, and to the other recent reviewers. We value all feedback, good or (hopefully not too often!) bad, as long as it is constructive, and we will strive to continue offering the best we can in food, drink, and service - all within the confines of what remains, first and foremost, an old-fashioned country pub. We... More

Had an excellent lunch at the Laughing Fish last Saturday. The staff behind the bar were so so welcoming, friendly and professional. The kitchen has a gone to a lot of trouble to consider my wife's dietary needs (vegetarian & no cows milk) and gave at least different choices of main course. All our food was home cooked, fresh and... More

Love The Laughing Fish - great food and atmosphere. Sunday roasts are excellent and there is a large selection for children. Dogs are welcome too.

Turkey curry a little dry but the Ales made up for the shortfall and the service is very friendly. My daughter enjoyed her steak and my young son devoured the fish in beer batter. My husband said it was the best burger he had eaten in a while. Very reasonable prices and cheese board at last a fair price! Nice... More

Brie and cranberry sandwich on very freshly baked granary bread was excellent. A portion of delicious (home cooked?) chips for £1 topped off the choice beautifully. Not too many, not too few. If I had stuck to my original idea of scampi I would not have been disappointed. A good portion which my friend said (and looked) delicious along with... More

This pub is a great all-rounder. Good food, good beer, lovely garden. Unlikely many gastropubs you could happily spend a few hours drinking at the bar without feeling like a spare part, but the food is worth travelling for too. A couple of pounds cheaper than most foodie pubs, and an extra 20% off if a member of Lewes FC... More

This is a very popular pub/restaurant which might surprise you as it's not somewhere you accidentally come across. It's on the CAMRA ale trail every year and is adjoins the Lavender Line heritage railway, and I guess this is how most people find it. You really need to book to eat - especially Sundays - or prepare to have a... More
