A cozy pub with great service

We called in one lunch time during our break in Battle and made to feel welcome.A roaring fire on a cold day helped. We noted that an Asian themed meal was planned but that specials would still be served so as a band was booked we reserved a table. The band were not great and most people stayed in... read more

Looks like a pub feels a bit like a pub used to be. Great menu choices perfect service clean comfortable and friendly I'm now told by tripadvisor to write more but little more to say. It's a great place in Battle right on the high street

Me and my partner went here for tea. We both had the Bull Burger - wow, had loads inside. Very filling and hit the spot. We went over the Christmas period, the front pub bit was very busy but we managed to squeeze through to the restaurant part out the back. Comfy pub, friendly staff - asked if we needed... More

Had an excellent three course meal here. Proper food that you could tell had never met a microwave! The staff couldn't have been more helpful and service came with a smile. Good solid pub, definitely recommend it.

We have lived in Battle for two years and this is our local pub. We pop in most weekends for a drink at lunchtime and read the papers! The staff are always welcoming both to us and our cocker spaniel! There is a lovely wood burning stove in the bar area which is always lit in the winter months. We... More

We arrived at 7pm, 6 for dinner. The whole place is dominated by the 'local' bar drinkers, about 6 - 8 of them at the bar, extremely drunk, loud, swearing, rude, and obnoxious. We sat away from the bar, but the sheer loudness of the local drunks made it impossible not to hear every word. There is no table service,... More

Ate here approx 6 months ago and enjoyed the atmosphere, beers and food. So, thought we should return ..... oh dear oh dear what has happened. Atmosphere was still good, beer OK but the food is awful - certainly the worst meal we have had all year. Burger was dry and came with no salad (as advertised in the menu),... More

We were visiting Battle Abby and stumbled upon The Bull Inn. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. I had the Stetson and Ale pie which was very tender and tasty. My wife had the chicken curry which she enjoyed very much, saying is was not to hot, just right. Give it a try, I don't think you... More

We came to the Bull several years ago and always try and make it for a lunch there, as it is good pub grub served by friendly and attentive staff. So we popped in and were again greeted with great service and nice food. They also have done it up which is great. We spotted they had a "Smokey Jazz... More
