The food here is not bad (and the choice of Belgian beers is good) but there was something very special about my visit to The Anchor, something which unfortunately is all too rare in British restaurants and cafés: good service. The waiting staff here struck the perfect balance between friendliness and efficiency. The result was a relaxed and enjoyable meal.... More

Pitched up at 12 on a Sunday with a group of friends to find a mini beer festival and bbq in full swing. Impressed with how it was all organised so efficiently yet still very much the family operation (guessing here but everyone seemed too sincere for it to be just another chain type pub). Fantastic choice of ales, good... More

We dropped in for an evening meal and drinks for my family of five. We found the atmosphere friendly and the food good and the staff were helpful. One of the owners was working in the kitchen and came out to speak to the diners and she was very welcoming. I shall return.

Called in at the Anchor in Walberswick having seen the adverts for the beer and food festival. The pub and the village were both excellent, with a location close to the sea. The staff were very friendly albeit a little uncertain of what was actually happening. The street food advertised was burger, pizza and chicken wings. The pizza oven had... More

We stayed here and had a party of thirteen for lunch. Starters eaten were West Mersea Oysters which were excellent. Fish soup which was also given full marks and Gravadlax. The Crab Linguini was excellent, as was the Pork Belly. The hot Smoked Mackerel was also enjoyed. All five children tucked into crispy fish and chips and their plates were... More

Defiantly worth a visit to have fish and chips in a nice atmosphere. It is more expensive then other pubs in the area but worth it. Banana fritters as desert was kinda disappointing as it had very little toffee sauce. All in all, enjoyed my night there

We visited Walberswick to see a friend and as a local he took us to the Anchor. He uses the restaurant a lot and was highly praiseworthy of the establishment. The gardens and interior of the pub are nice and the menu good. We had some very good crab salads which if a bit expensive were tasty. I would have... More

Lovely building and setting, the menu is varied with pub classics and seasonal options, and a decent wine (by the glass) is suggested for each dish. Good quality children's options and fish in particular. It's a shame that the waiting staff in the restaurant are mainly posh students on their hols in summer - they couldn't care less if anything... We recently visited Suffolk on holiday and stopped here for lunch as it looked so nice from the outside. We sat in the beautiful garden on a rather sunny but blustery day. Lunch was delicious and the service was good. We will definitely be back.
