I came here for food, queue was so lo h and blatantly understaffed. To cope with cistomers ordering food. Beet selection, for a pub that has a brewery round tje corner, there is no excuse for having only 2 beers on. Outside terrace is nice, I camt comment on the food but Adnams seriously need to ensure they have sufficient... More

I am surprised that there are great reviews for this place and maybe I just had a bad day. Sunday lunch and the staff have a very strange way of dealing with the orders. They will not take a single order before 12 and even then have just 1 man writing it down (only once you have queued in a... More

Dropped in for a bite to eat, plenty of space outside (we had our dog with us) Good range of beers on tap service quick too, but the food was nothing to shout about To be fair it was as described on the menu we had two sandwiches, come on guys you can do better than standard sliced bread use... Great staff, lovely food always on our list to eat and drink at every visit. The price is very reasonable.

Just spent a week down in Southwold with my wife and 2 friends. We ate in the Red Lion on our first night and were so impressed that we ate there again on our last night. Tghe food is very good with lots of choice, decent portions and is good value for money; particularly at Suffolk prices. the staff were... More

Got Into town late and went into the first eatery we found as most stop serving at 9pm. There was jazz playing in the bar , bonus! At the rear is a large eating area and they do good home cooked food and great service. We had chicken mushroom and tarragon pie and seasonal veg. It was lovely and very... More

We are regulars at the Red Lion, not locals, but we visit a lot over the year staying weeks at a time. This pub serves great food (we are vegetarians) and the home cooked choice is excellent. Beer and wine choices are great as well and we have found the staff to be cheerful and helpful. Imagine our disappointment when... More

Visited here whilst exploring Southwold. We arrived at 12.00 for lunch and glad we did. 15 minutes later there was a huge queue waiting to order food. I had fish and chips which was very nice and my wife had a ploughmans lunch that was huge. We also sampled the local breweries ale, Adnams. Also nice. Staff are friendly and... More

Had Haddock and chips on Saturday all I can say is they were excellent, the batter was just right and the fish tasted lovely and fresh. 2 weeks ago we went to the Lord Nelson instead because we were to impatient to wait in line for food orders and we end up so disappointed. Never again, definitely sticking to the... More

As always another fantastic meal and customer service. Really great for families, in fact it's really the only child friendly place in town. It's great to know the children's meals have such great ingredients. I can totally recommend . Thanks to all staff.
