We decided to get an Indian take away, but my partner suggested sitting in instead as I have a nut allergy, and he thought I would be more comfortable if I sat in and explained my situation to the waiters (this was my first ever...Indian as I’ve always been too cautious to eat one) they were extremely accommodating, and said I could have almost anything I wanted from the menu. Very good service and excellent food!More

I received a curry that while reasonable in taste at best, a tenth of a potato the size of a two pence piece was all that was there in there despite it being a part of the dish. Worse still, the dish itself was rather...miniscule and put in a razor thin plastic tub that was clearly not suited to this type of dish and on receipt of the dish, the plastic was not able to withstand the high temperatures and was flopping and bending in all directions due to the hot liquid inside. Questions over whether using this type of cheap thin plastic for hot dishes with the plastic in a semi melted state in hot liquids, is in fact safe clearly relevant. I have seen similar razor thin bendy plastic tubs in poundland at 30 for £1 and while it is understandable that profits are important, cutting corners at the expense of food safety in this skinflint manner is not acceptable. On a plus side, the small amount of curry was average at best with my number of stars reflecting careless packaging and a virtually non existent piece of potatoe as determining factors.More

As our normal Indian was fully booked, tried this instead. It didn’t disappoint. Great, friendly service. Although we followed a table of eighteen in, there wasn’t a delay on seating us or bringing the food out. Food was good and reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

The chicken had an unpleasant taste, kumar sauce had no flavour and the poppadoms smelled and tasted of bleach. £35 down the drain as we threw the food in the bin. We have had reasonable food from this take away in the past hence 1star....Very disappointed.More

I usually use the Shapla but as thats now closed on Mondays we gave the India Village a try as we met up with some friends . We booked on line and I received a courtesy call back which was good . On arrival we...were seated and drinks and popadoms sorted quickly by friendly staff. When trying a new Asian restaurant I tend to go with a dansak or jalfrazai to get an idea, I went for the dansak and it was ok , would have been good had the lamb been more tender. My wife had a King Prawn Pathia which again was ok as in-fact was all the food , no complaints but just not a wow . The staff were lovely and the service good so would give it another go .More

Going to an Indian restaurant on a Sunday evening may not be the best test of any establishment. However, the food at the Indian Village was just excellent, I had the chicken Pasanda and my partner the chicken Saathkora chicken which was at the upper...limit of my spice scale. The Pasanda was very coconuty and I really liked the apricot init, when I mentioned this to the waiter he said let them know when we order next time and they can easily tailor the fish to my preference because nothing is pre-cooked. Nice to know. The cheese and onion nan is probably the best I've had. The staff were just excellent, so friendly and willing to help as well as being attentive without breathing down your neck.More
