I first went here more than a year ago with a group of us scout leaders after an event and was impressed. Today my wife and I made a return trip and I'm pleased to report that it was just as good today as last time. Freshly cooked food chowder for me and Monkfish main course absolutely brill with very... You expect Norfolk coastal gastropubs to be crowded in August but there's plenty of room here, either in the cool interior or the sunny garden. Although it's on the busy coast road, it's sheltered from traffic noise and there's plenty of parking outside or on the nearby quay (National Trust members free). Main courses are huge, or you can order... More

We decided to call in here for breakfast after a boat trip to see the seals. It was very quiet but still had a nice atmosphere, we found a cosy table in the back and browsed their books while we waited for our food. The coffee and tea arrived first and the coffee was very good. The food arrived a... More

Just popped in to pick up our seal trip tickets and stayed for lunch. They technically had finished serving but they were more than happy to take our order and get us sorted. The food was superb and there was a great, friendly and buzzy atmosphere.

Busy place but they found us a peaceful corner and we had a most satisfying meal. My partner enjoyed the locally sourced steak more than any he has eaten for years. This place suits all ages and it is a delight to be somewhere so professionally run, yet sowelcoming.

Absolutely loved this pub! We were visiting the area from Essex and we were recommended we come here and it was absolutely lovely. The staff are so friendly and attentive and the pub is quirky and seemed very popular and busy. I had the monkfish and chorizo and it was so fresh and the dessert was heavenly chocolate and almond... We ate there after seeing the seals and it was a great experience. The staff were very accommodating with our 6 and 4 year olds and the chowder and squid starters were very tasty. I recommend the monkfish and the plaice too. We will return, thank you!

We enjoyed a lovely family supper at the anchor. The fish chowder was fabulous!! The scallops were very good although three for £9 was a little meagre. The main courses were all excellent the 1/2 grilled lobster and the crab salad were super delicious!! Lovely sorbets and great coffee to finish. Thank you!!

This is a fresh, smartly decorated place with a relaxed atmosphere. There is lots of choice so we were all able to eat well for a reasonable price. There is an outside area as well as inside dining. They are happy to serve mains alongside sandwiches or to serve a starter as a main. I thought the fish chowder was really... More
