My husband and I had booked a table for our 10th anniversary on Nov 5th and we had a wonderful evening at Huset! The waitress was excellent and most of the dishes included in the Nordic Tasting Menu were very nice indeed as were the wines paired to go with them. Because it was a special occasion, we received a glass of bubbles to start with - on the house. A lovely gesture! Then we had a really tasty spoonful of cauliflower soup with freshly baked bread and butter. And then the 7 courses started with undercooked hallibut (instead of crayfish which was listed on the menu) topped with a lot of roe and then undercooked seal... Both dishes we were not keen on. However, after that things improved significantly: with ptarmigan, cod and reindeer. Delicious! An enjoyable treat altogether! Recommended!

We had a fabulous fun dinner at Restaurant Huset, which is part of Hurtigruten Svalbard.
Huset is located inside the polar bear boundary so you can easily walk there from the middle of town.
This is not a cheap dinner (gbp 200 per person) however highly worth it. The staff are warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable. The décor in the restaurant itself is a little bland however, we were fortunate to have a table by the window overlooking the Santa Claus mine.
Also, we were lucky to have Kristina providing us a really fun night. She gave us quiz questions between the courses about Longyearbyen mining history plus the background of the building. We failed at almost all of them but it was such a great laugh.
We had about 13 courses (Nordic tasting menu) and the food were so delicious. The bread roll was the best in Svalbard. Due to a very early flight the next day, we asked the waiter (Magnus) to speed up the meal from 3.5 hours to 3, which was not a problem. Kristina showed us the fabulous wine cellar afterwards and the cinema upstairs. Really interesting building.
Nothing to fault about our visit to Huset.
If you go to Longyearbyen, a visit to Restaurant Huset is an absolute must.

Huset was recommended by a friend who had been there years before. Location is stark, but from the road out from town, a simple white house in a valley with a glacier behind it. Brenna hosted us, making good cocktails (martini and Manhattan), then we indulged in the six-course meal with wine pairings. Only two other couples in the dining room, and a private group, so it made for an intimate evening. Local art (I wanted to take the picture of the ptarmigans), great conversations, beautiful presentation, and exquisite food. A wonderful surprise.

The restaurant is quite far from the city centre for Longyearbyen standards, but it's a nice walk in the right weather. The building seems like an old residential block. But inside it's a nice venue with a pub and a restaurant. The restaurant itself is small. And at least at the time we were there (October) was understaffed. The plates came late despite the fact that it wasn't busy. There was little care in finding out what we wished for (no one offered to show us the wine menu or take any drinks orders). The Arctic menu was good. Small portions, but interesting local ingredients (seal, reindeer, ptarmigan, and different types of herbs and weeds) prepared creatively with good cooking technique. The price was high for the experience, but considering it's a remote island and it's part of Norway, it's reasonable.

Huset is right at the edge of town very close to the famous Polar Bear warn sing. It is a massive building. The restaurant is lovely. Interior, ambience is just great.
We had the arctic tasting menu (don't know if they did a la carte).
It started with a complimentary bread, butter and some dried meat (I forgot what it was. Shame on me). Followed by a Scallop which really was the best I have ever had. It was almost raw but the taste of it together with the sauce and the herbs was just incredible. And I am not a big fan of Scallops.
Next was Seal which had a very unique but great taste. Ptarmigan was next followed by Turbot and Reindeer. All of it cooked to perfection.
As dessert we had a Crème Anglaise.
Very good wine list to chose from as well. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They explain every single dish very well.
It is more on the pricy side but it is really worth it. The money and, if you walk, the way up there. You will get amazing views towards the city and the Fjord.

For complete your comment, we don't serve A la Carte, only the tasting menu at least in the fine dinning restaurant.
The Amuse bouche was homemade Svalbard reindeer coppa while the dessert was a mini Yorkshire pudding with mountain sorrel jelly.

My bf booked a table for a romantic dinner. Service was masterly, great wine selection. We enjoyed a 7 course dinner here. Food is very local, which is nice. But size of portions wasnt enought for both of us + dinner took more then 2 hours (too long for me). After a nice walk to a city and one more dinner we was full ^^

We had a delightful dinner at Huset. The Nordic tasting menu included 14 small courses, and we also had the wine pairing. Portions were right-sized so that we could enjoy each dish from amuse bouche to petit fours without feeling overstuffed. The dishes were all creative, and while some dishes were more to our liking than others, all were artfully presented and flavorful. Reindeer was presented in many ways, as well as turbot, langoustine, seal, and shrimp. The sea urchin soup was amazing—and I don’t like sea urchin. No whale, which I was actually pleased about, but a sauce made from kelp served from a whale tureen. Some of the dishes had wonderful intensely flavored sauces that elevated the proteins to a new level. The hazelnut dessert was amazing. The wine pairings (actually including one beer and one aquavit) were thoughtfully chosen to complement the dishes. Service was excellent. Definitely a unique experience to experience fine dining in the polar north!

Wow, wow, wow. My research on Huest took my breath away and I immediately knew this is where we were going for my husbands special birthday. Communication prior had been excellent and we were looking forward to the Arctic Experience with paired wines. Our hostess Kristina was brilliant explaining how the night would run. We then met our Sommelier Matilda was exceptionally friendly/personable and displayed a great knowledge of the wines she was serving. The meal itself was a brilliant depiction of the Arctic, many of the dishes we had no idea basically what we were eating. All dishes were presented on logs/rocks/antlers, just beautiful. After dinner we were treated to a tour of the magnificent building including the amazing wine cellar. It definitely was a dinner experience we will never forget. Thank you so much to everyone at Huest.

Absolutely amazing gourmet dining experience! This was an Arctic experience to the core. The service was exceptional with very knowledgeable waiters and you will not regret the wine pairing they recommend. The tastes were so unique and presentation was delicate. Huge cred to the Spanish chef for his creativity and expertise in the use of pickling, drying and fermentation. A gastronomic delight! Do take the tour of Huset afterwards. This is a very special building with a unique history. We will be back!!

We were booked into Huset for dinner, but received a phone call the day before to let us know that the restaurant was closed due to plumbing issues. I was disappointed, but instead of cancelling, the restaurant arranged to pick us up from our hotel in a minivan with 4 other couples and drive us to Willems Cabin, where the chef prepared for us a 10 course dinner. The cabin was rustic, cozy and beautiful, with a log fire crackling in the corner. We were all seated at one long table and served an intricate meal that included reindeer heart, king crab soup, seal, wolf fish, ptarmigan and some wonderful wines. It was really fun to share the meal with the other couples. This "accident" turned out to be the highlight of our trip.

We had an amazing New Year’s evening at Huset. From the cellar tour with canapés, to a charming private room, really attentive and unobtrusive service and a great tasting menu. The sommelier didn’t pressure us to order massively expensive wine and her recommendations were excellent. The food had strong local references and they catered for dietary requirements so subtly that everyone felt like we were having the same experience. Ingredients were served that you would never get anywhere else. Phytoplankton risotto was amazing. This was a must!

Fantastic food in a fascinating building, delivered with perfect service and accompanied by personal descriptions by the brilliant and inspiring Head Chef.
We went for the tasting menu and wine pairing option and are very happy we did! Each of the 11 courses were delicious, wonderfully presented, and beautifully paired with interesting and seriously tasty wines.
Big thanks to the whole team who provided a truly unique and memorable experience. A special shout out to Magnus who served us fantastically, and to Alberto, the Head Chef for his personal flourishes.

We had the pleasure on enjoying the tasting menu at Huset. Chef Alfonso (?) created an exquisite, unfussy meal that was on par or better than Michelin star meals we have enjoyed in the past. Beautifully and creatively presented. Importantly, the vegetarian version was thoughtfully crafted and was as good as the meat containing version.

We were lucky enough to visit the Svalbard islands in July 2022.
On our first night in Svalbard we went to Huset restaurant which had just re opened after Covid.
The food, location and staff were all excellent.
Although this is an expensive restaurant the quality and variety exceeds all expectation. The wine selection is also most impressive.
We thoroughly enjoyed Huset and would strongly recommend it for a fantastic fine dining experience.

Wonderful food for my birthday dinner! All 12 dishes were very arctic and special!
I normally don't eat fish a lot but even the fish and crab dishes were delicious and the first four dishes plus the reindeer main course were my favourites
