There were signs on the door saying face masks required. This is the first time since the COVID 19 that we have eaten at the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant reminds a person of the 1960s or 1970's.
We noticed that the staff gave us a tray with silverwear and napkins on it. Previously these items were in containers and your got your own. We placed our orders and moved down the line to the location where salad plates used to be located. Now they have moved the self service salad bar from the dinning area to the location that had been salad plates. The had their most popular salad bar items behind large plexiglass separating guess and staff. You informed the staff what items you wanted and they prepared your salad. After paying for our food (which was very reasonable) we found a table near the old location for the salad bar.
The restaurant had several booths blocked off and tables had been removed so that social distancing could be maintained. The server brought our food which included baked fish in butter sauce with almonds, baked potato and rolls. The food was all very good. We had only one problem the fish that my wife received had some bones in it and she had to be careful eating it. My fish was fine no bones. Our server kept our beverages refilled and provided us with salt and pepper. Since we came during lunch hours drinks were provided at no extra cost.
All staff members were wearing face masks. Everything was very clean. The restrooms were also well maintained.
Will definitely return.

This York steakhouse is the only one remaining in the Columbus area. There used to be 3 others. The restaurant offers a selection of steak fixed many different ways along with baked or fried fish, chopped steak, shrimp, spaghetti and several other items. They also have several types of desserts. You go through a cafeteria type line with a tray picking up your silverware, salad plates, drinks and butter then paying at the end. The server will bring your main dish to your table after it is prepared. While you wait they have a very nice salad bar with a good selection of items to make yourself a salad to enjoy. While we were eating we seen the staff stocking the salad bar two times and keeping it clean. Our server made sure he kept our drinks refilled and asking if we needed anything. My wife and I both had the Baked fish with butter sauce and sliced almonds, a baked potato and rolls. It may seem odd to order fish at a steakhouse, but they have delicious baked fish.
Since this was February they had the restaurant decorated with Valentine items. The restaurant had a good size crowd considering it was 3 pm on a Saturday. It was 75% full. They have staff that has a special cart that goes around bussing tables and cleaning them for quick turn around.
The restrooms were older but well maintained and clean. The parking lot is completely behind the restaurant with video camera monitoring.

Ohio seems to have a thing for "last remaining" restaurants from the past (see: Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips) and this one is a true 70's time warp. This is York Steakhouse, a staple of shopping malls and suburbs everywhere as I was groiwng up.
Located on Broad Street outside of Columbus and near the Hollywood Casino, York is a rather unassuming building that you would probably pass right by if you didn't know it was there. There are no windows on the building, so if you like natural light, this place is not going to appeal to you. Parking is located in the rear of the building, and don't be surprised if there's quite a few cars there. York is still quite popular!
Passing through the solid wooden entrance doors, you'll wind down a long hallway past the restaurant's pictorial menu board. A hostess will greet you as you grab a tray and silverware. Place your order, slide the tray down the rail and make a stop at the salad bar to make your own salad (if you don't want a salad, they take 99 cents off your meal). Next, stop at the classic desserts to grab a pudding or jello topped with a whipped cream blob, or something more substantial such as lemon pie, chocolate cake, or cheesecake. Get your own soft drink or coffee then pay the cashier and seat yourself in the large dining room. There's just something about the 70's vibe here that I really enjoy. It seems like they should be showing episodes of "Match Game" or "Columbo" and give each table an ash tray to really complete the 70's feel!
Anyhow, what about the food? Well, I have been here twice and have had the 8 oz sirloin meal both times. Look, if you're expecting Morton's or Ruth's Chris, I'd pass on coming here. But if a decent steak, large baked potato and giant roll sounds appealing, by all means get yourself over to York. The sirloin is very tasty, was cooked right and for $14, isn't a bad deal at all. They also serve rotisserie chicken, baked and fried fish, t-bones, "York Filets", chopped steak and their most popular item, sirloin tips topped with onions and mushrooms.
Both times I have been here the dining room was mostly clean and the service, while a bit slow, was friendly and helpful. York isn't for everyone. But if you're ever in Central Ohio, are a nostalgia fan like me and want a quick return to the way value steakhouses like Bonanza, Ponderosa, Western Sizzlin', and their ilk used to be, head on over to York. It brings back some good memories!

Growing up in the 80's, I went to York Steakhouse in our local mall. I had always loved the way it was cafeteria style and you could choose your desserts, sides, etc. It was always a treat to go there. When I found out there was 1 remaining York Steakhouse left, and I would be visiting the area where it was located, how could I not go? Upon entering the restaurant, the menu was on the hallway walls, just as it was in the 1980's. Same menu items, same decore, same wonderful smells! Our chopped steak was just as I remembered, cooked perfectly, and with the grill marks. The salad bar is super fresh and has a lot of choices. The desserts are all home made and look wonderful. Never having been able to find chocolate pudding as good as York Steakhouse's, it was a no-brainer that was my choice. It was just a delicious as I remembered.
The staff were all very pleasant and checked on our table often to make sure we were enjoying our meal. I was so happy to have been able to come here again. It brought back a lot of nice memories from my youth and I would love to be able to come back again, if my travels bring me close by!

It was just like I remembered. The salad was so fresh and so good. My meal came hot and it was delicious, the steak could have used a bit more flavor but it was cooked perfect and was very tender. It was worth my drive from the other side of town. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back

The good: the atmosphere was the 1970’s but a bit dark. The salad was good, the roll was very good, the steak was tasty but did have quite a bit of stringy fat on it. Overall a good experience.
The bad: the hostess was not very pleasant to deal with and needed a new attitude for sure. It took a very long time for the food to come out, even though they were not busy at all. The roll should come out with the salad. Maybe it’s just me, but I like a roll with my salad and not with my steak.

York had come highly recommended from several sources as a good old school steakhouse. So I selected it for my birthday dinner.
From the labyrinthine entrance, to nobody at the order station, to nobody at the register, first impressions were not good. The sign on the door about bad drainage in the restrooms with a plea to use them only if necessary was a weird alert.
2 of 3 steaks were cooked wrong. Decent meat, salad, and roll. Okay onion rings, the tbone was WAY too thin.
Considering the strong recommendations that led me there, I am tempted to try again. But with money tight and the fast that it's on the opposite side of town, I doubt it will be anytime soon.
I am so disappointed!!

I stopped for a carryout order. I ordered the baked fish. When I got it home it looked like someone had eaten half of it. It was the smallest piece of fish I'd ever seen. The chef should have never put it in the box. I'll tell them about it if I go back !!

Just solid basics. A friend suggested it as we needed lunch food and a place to talk. I had the steak tips and a packed potato.
The salad bar was fresh, the food was good, we talked. The place has had minimal updates, but I’m fine with it as everything looked clean. This may not be the place to impress a first date, but I enjoyed it.

My T-bone steak was delicious and very tender. Prices are very reasonable. It was my first time there but it won't be my last!

I really enjoyed dinner at the York Steakhouse tonight. So did my husband, who had never been. We are from NY, where they used to be in what seemed like every single mall in the state. Super old school down to the signage. Our food was great and very reasonable. Service was very efficient. We will definitely return.

This place is way overrated. I got a cheeseburger that had the hardest bun I have ever come across. And frankly it was pretty tasteless. One and done.

My wife and I always enjoyed going to the York Steakhouse that was in our local area when we were kids. So, while traveling through Ohio, we felt that it would be good to stop in.
For the most part, it was what we remembered. The slight medieval touches, the darker wall tones, the large rolls, the salad choice, and even the small pudding in the glasses with a flowery drop of whip cream.
The only disappointment: I added a hot dog on because that's what I usually ordered when I was a kid and I always thought that their large grilled hot dogs were the best. Unfortunately, this hot dog wasn't very plump and pretty average.
Yet, all other aspects were fantastic and my teenage boys even noticed that the price was more reasonable than at some places.
