Stopped by for lunch on Wednesday in July. It was blessedly air conditioned! It's an old building right on High street a short walk from Franklin County Municipal Court (I wasn't charged, I was on jury duty.). You could call it a "dive" but I prefer "neighborhood tavern with atmosphere"! Friendly, long-term employees (except for the beautiful young waitress who... More

Hi-Beck is a great place for lunch. Many people from the courthouse up high street stop by at the lunch hour. The food is always dependably good. I understand there is nightlife with bands, but I have not experienced that side of the coin.

A great classic dive bar in Columbus. Very good waitstaff and decent food. Pizza's reign supreme. Small beer selection on tap but strong pours.

Before I went gluten-free I wen to HighBeck and got a ribeye steak sammich - Un:Freaking:Believably:Good. I was told that the guy that cooks the ribeyes is a cook at The Top - if it's true this guy is a consummate pro at cooking steak. It's always a temptation to sneak over on Fridays for lunch and get one of... More

I was in town for a convention and a friend suggested we go here. He specifically wanted to play ping pong and they have a good table. Good beer list. Nice pizza spread (comp) the night we were there. Mixed crowd looked like they were regulars.

We found ourselves here on a rainy Tuesday evening around 8pm, in the German Village area of Columbus, wanting something to eat and drink. We didn't want to walk far from our hotel on High Street. Is it a dive bar? Yes, but the lack of oak finishes and Tiffany lamps isn't an issue. Friendly staff and good service make... More

We needed to pass some time and stopped in to watch the games and get a drink. The service was slow. The potato skins where average. Drink selection was average. They had not your father's root beer on the menu. After the bar tender looked for a long time they bin not have it. Disappointing. We also got chips and... More

Beer selection great. service spot-on. atmosphere local, professional and neighborhood. Visiting Columbus for the first time in 25 years, the changes were amazing and sometimes overwhelming. A trip downtown and a stop at the High Beck brought me back to my roots.

I was in town for a business meeting and stayed at a hotel about a block away. I was looking for a couple of beers and some appetizers. This place was your typical dive bar but nice. It was very big and had lots of bar seating. There were several Tvs and they had some nice craft beers on tap.... More
