I agree with others that the food is simply excellent. The maître d' was very helpful about some food sensitivities. This was followed up by some helpful recommendations from our server. Our pumpkin soup was delicious, as was our grouper and the "airline chicken," which...bore no comparison to airline food. (Maybe change the name?) There were a few glitches in the service, which were to be expected, and which were quickly corrected. Our only complaint was that the music was entirely inappropriate to the atmosphere and the educational mission. It was also TOO LOUD. I think that the restaurant should adopt the theme of the Manchester Craftsman's Guild in Pittsburgh, and play the universally loved music of Jazz - which is appropriate to the restaurant's prestige.More

As a concept this is an amazing restaurant. However, if I take away that and concentrate on it as a restaurant in a vacuum, then it’s just OK. The staff was great, but the food… The bread was bland, our food was under seasoned and...the risotto and potatoes we had were both under cooked (some of my potatoes were to hard to cut that’s how under cooked they were). I don’t think I would have minded so much but at $37-57 a plate it’s a bit much. At the end of the day I think it’s a good cause so I’m happy to spend the money, but wouldn’t go here expecting five star food.More

We visit Cleveland a couple of times a year, and always come to Edwins. We enjoy the menu, and have always found the wait staff helpful and courteous. We had the vegan risotto and potato-crusted grouper as entrees, and the lobster bisque as appetizer. Food was...terrific. Belinda, our server, was charming and attentive. After we complemented Chef Brandon on the grouper, he took us back in the kitchen to show us how it was done. Folks, that would costs you hundreds of dollars in Chicago or Italy. Hugs to staff.More

Love the concept, restaurant atmosphere and staff is great and friendly and the bananas foster is a must. The rest of the night was average. Salads were ok and entrees of the gnocchi and ribeye were average meals - nothing special, which didn’t meet our...expectations based upon the reviews.More

Loved it the first time, pre covid, but this time not so much. Went with friends this time, could not wait to try the tableside burger. Not tableside anymore and should not be on menu either. Horrible texture, overcooked and over seasoned. Friends salmon in...cucumber sauce not very good. Wlfe had cod wrapped in potatoes, came out burnt, should not have been served. We saw a story about this organization on a national news show and decided that since we were going to be in Cleveland for a few days we would try it. We were not disappointed. The food was wonderful. Some of the best French sauces...we have had. Add to that the mission of the restaurant and you can’t lose. If we lived closer,we would be regulars.More

We had a delicious dinner with an excellent, attentive staff serving. Lovely atmosphere. Such an interesting menu. I liked that they had cocktails and wines by the bottle as well as by the glass.

Went there to celebrate birthday dinner. I reminded them upon arrival that it was a birthday celebration and was told “we are aware and will take care of it”. Once dinner was over, we received our check and still no birthday recognition so it was...very disappointing. The water and bread servers were extremely attentive. Beet salad appetizer was generous in size and tasty. Ribeye was tasty. Chicken entree had no sides to accompany it. Overall the workers hustled and were pleasant.More

We were excited for a night out in a nice French restaurant The menu looked really good and the setting was nice. The price was in line, quite $$$. But aside the price nothing was really in line: terrible service, slow and clumsy, food was...burnt and poorly seasoned. A very very disappointing experience; actually made for an unpleasant time.More

My wife and I traveled for the first time in nearly 2 years and this was a highlight of our trip to Cleveland. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and took wonderful care of us. We began out meal with the Artichokes in white...wine, olive oil and butter and Roasted Beet salad. The artichokes were perfectly cooked so that they kept their shape but were fork tender. The "broth" they were in was delicious and we used all the fresh bread they brought us to soak it all up not wanting to leave any behind. The roasted beet salad was a nice counter to the velvety artichokes and had a good combination of sweetness and freshness. My only criticism on the salad is that the beets seemed to be simply cooked and not really roasted since I didn't taste any caramelization. Next we had the Duck Confit with Butternut Squash and Risotto and Portobello Napoleon with Roasted Red Pepper , Squash, Zucchini, Roasted Cauliflower and a Red Pepper Coulis. The duck unfortunately was over salted, still edible, but it was a bit more dried out then it should have been. However the risotto was delicious and perfectly prepared and did help cut the saltiness of the duck. The napoleon was a vegetarian delight and had a good texture and chew to it without being over done. The Red Pepper Coulis was another sauce that you really just soaked up with your bread until the plate was clean. We next had a cheese course and I can't tell you exactly what we had since my wife did all the choosing but I will say they have an amazing assortment and that you should definitely leave room for this before your dessert. We ended our meal with Bananas Foster which they prepare table side and describe all the steps as it's prepared. The final product was just perfect with the sauce having just the right balance of sweetness and as the house made ice cream melted you had the silky texture to the whole dish. Overall we had a great time and would certainly come back.More

I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a dining experience that I enjoyed in Cleveland more than Edwin’s. The staff was wonderful! The food was absolutely AMAZING. Went with a group of 6. Ordered over half of the menu between us, and then some more...to take home. I highly recommend it!More

I was in town for a visit with my mother who kept raving about the unique training opportunity Edwin's offers to the Cleveland community. We stopped for dinner without making reservations and the head waiter (he was the only one in a suit) was very...rude to us, and to the host seating us. We did not want to sit in the back of the restaurant by the fire due to health issues, but you would have thought we were criminals for asking for another table. He made a point of telling us where we could not sit, but was just nasty and dismissive about it. I never understand establishments that charge top prices for poor service. The waiters and other servers were lovely, but everyone should be just as polite. To make matters worse, this person stopped by every table but ours to make sure other guests were happy, but I paid a $120 tab for 2 dinners and 2 drinks. Never again.More

My friend always finds the most wonderful restaurants. Edwin's has a great mission, fantastic food, and lovely surroundings. The wait staff was very attentive. The food was great. The menu selections were varied and all sounded delicious. We each had lobster bisque. And a cocktail....Then, she had escargots. I had the salmon with creme fraiche. Then, we split the NY strip steak. We ended our meal by splitting the generously portioned Grand Marnier souffle. The music playing the the background was surprising, and just right. All diners were able to hold private conversations because the music was just enough cover. It was generally rhythm and blues. Like, Anita Baker singing Sweet Love. But with a little Michael Jackson (!) now and then. The interior is elegant, and on this February evening, the bright and cheerful fireplace was quite welcome. The price tag was not cheap. But this is the kind of place that's worth it.More

I went with my husband and it was terrible. We had the oysters which were OK. The wine was over $100. My husbands martini was not good. The waiters did not know what to do and kept walking back and forth. We ordered the frog...legs and foie gray which were not good. To much of everything. I had the lamb which was dry but it was rare as requested. My husband had the rabbit and the polenta was unedible and he makes polenta at least once a week. We ordered the grand marinaea shuffle at the first of ordering. It was 25 minutes late after we had eaten. It was not cooked and inedible. We had a cab waiting for us and could not eat it. The total was over $300 for both of us and a terrible meal. Never go back.More
