As visitors to Cleveland with just one restaurant to choose I wanted to make a good choice and Blue Point Grill did not disappoint. The overwhelmingly positive reviews on Trip Advisor were the basis of my decision to dine here and I won’t have much to add to the other reviews.
Nevertheless here goes. My wife and I were most impressed by the fantastic service which was complemented by excellent food and the lively atmosphere. As the menu offers many choices, I asked our server her recommendations and was glad I did as each of her picks were great.
We shared a lobster bisque which was rich and delicious with the serving coming in two smaller bowls. We also shared the crab cake appetizer which was loaded with crab and an extra plate was provided without asking.
The grouper with lobster mashed potatoes and spinach was cooked to a perfect texture, firm and not dry, while the mashed potatoes were very tasty with lobster mixed into it.
My Blue Point Heaven provided a good sample of lobster, shrimp, and scallops plus the lobster mashed potatoes and asparagus. Again the seafood was well prepared and was delicious.
Dessert of key lime pie and crème brûlée was excellent as were the wines we had.
Throughout the entire meal, we were often asked if everything was okay. Water glasses were refilled quickly and finished plates were removed very promptly, even by the restaurant manager who is leading by example! Our server reminded us that the fixed gratuity was already included in the bill.
The high ceilings, music, and even tvs all create a good, lively atmosphere which made dining here an excellent experience.
5/5

The town was hopping! Yankees playing the Guardians in Game 4 of the Playoffs. Browns hosted the Patriots, and the city was full of fans from all teams. The restaurant was a mix of couples on dates, business men dining in suits, families celebrating and friends having a meal after the game. Proper attire is required, but not really being enforced. Dining room was very busy, sound is moderate to loud. This was around 7-9 pm on a Sunday, mind you football had just ended and Baseball was just starting.
Our table had oysters, scallops, Caesar salad for starters which were all great. Skip the Alaskan crab claws, they were pre-frozen and slightly dried out and lacking flavor.
Dinner was grouper, filet mignon and crab mac. Grouper was delicious. Filet ordered med, came out almost black and bleu. Cheesecake was delicious.

I arrived without a reservation about 5:30 and was promptly seated at a high top in the bar. Friendly staff had a nice relaxing setting. Happy hour wine by the glass had a Chardonnay William Hill very tasty started off with a bowl of a lobster bisque it was phenomenal. Then switch to a Sauvignon Blanc to go with my blackened swordfish which was expertly prepared and very tasty it was accompanied by roasted potatoes and green beans. Somewhere along the line others have come to expect that you appreciate everything they want to do such as show up with small children and sit in the bar area at a high top and sing Happy Birthday and then get off the stools and run around to the front and back several times so the place all of a sudden feels like Chuck e cheese. Then the next table over a junior lawyer takes a FaceTime call from one of his clients who got locked up for driving while suspended really didn't want to hear the conversation and his legal prowess.

We did have a small mixup in service, but we weren't in a hurry, so no worries. However, based on reviews and cost, it was the meal that completely missed the mark. I hate to say, that the oyster sampler did not taste fresh. We shared 8 oysters, and neither of us really enjoyed them. Admittedly, we are not oyster connoisseurs, but we have had a variety of delicious fresh oysters on the west coast and New York. Even some we've had in Indiana have rivaled these. The oysters Rockefeller were large, and my daughter enjoyed those; however, I felt they needed more flavor. The lobster bisque wasn't bad. We each had the grouper. I liked mine, and thought it was cooked fine, but I tasted my daughter's, and hers was extemely dry. The lobster mashed potatoes were a bit disappointing, but edible...good concept. We actually didn't enjoy the drinks we chose, so that was unfortunate. Management did come to check on us and offered an apology and he offered me a second drink (I declined) due to the delay in our order. They did comp our oysters Rockefeller, and brought out a complimentary creme brulee. However, one bite of that...and I was glad we didn't order. Funky taste. Would not recommend, mostly because of the oysters, the inconsistent fish, and the included "service fee" of 20% on any size party (2). I guess I am naive in thinking most people are going to tip well somewhere like this; I tip 20-22% for service without issue...but don't appreciate it being mandatory.

I opted for this restaurant on the basis of online reviews, but was deeply dissapointed.
I visited with a couple of colleagues, celebrating a successful conference (we skipped starters, deciding on mains and desserts). The waitress was great, but kitchen got one of my colleagues orders wrong (he ordered a strip steak and they delivered a fillet). Meanwhile, I ordered the surf 'n turf (medium to medium rare).
When my order arrived the plate was dirty, covered in greasy hand prints, the small fillet steak was blue/raw in the middle and overly-salty (I have a pretty high salt tolerance) the lobster was also undercooked, still being translucent in the middle. The asparagus wasn't trimmed well and the mash was grey, over-cooked and over-worked.
As my colleague's order was being re-fired, I asked for the steak to be cooked a bit more and the waitress was very apologetic. The manager also came over and apologised and a couple of complimentary starters were placed on the table (bit random, as one was bisque, so they couldn't be shared). Before we could eat the starters the mains were back and the manager came over to ask if it was to our liking.
By that time, I'd pretty much lost my appetitie, the lobster and veg were now stone cold (as they hadn't kept the plate warm) and the steak was still too salty. I gave up on the whole affair and left most of it uneaten.
My colleagues enjoyed their steaks however.
Not the fault of the waitress (who I felt quite sorry for) or the manager, just mediocre cooking and lack of attention to detail. Not what you expect at these prices!

My wife and I have eaten here several times when in Cleveland and always had great service and wonderful meals. This time, not so much. Our server acted like he could not care less about us being there.
We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was extremely over cooked, to the point is was just chewy with no flavor. I had the grouper and it was dry and fairly tasteless. My wife had the halibut and said it was ok, but not great.
On top of sup par food, they totally forgot my soup order with hardly any apology, just "oh, we forgot your soup, we'll give you a free desert.." We are not desert people.
All in all, a very, very disappointing meal and we won't be back.
A formally great restaurant that is no longer even close to that rating.

Or last night in Cleveland we were looking forward to a very special dinner. We were willing to pay the price of this upscale restaurant.
The atmosphere was very nice and our servers were very attentive however, the food for the price we ended up paying for a meal was fairly mediocre, I had a shrimp and scallops dish that was very salty and the string beans were basically steamed with no flavor. The potatoes seemed OK but you really don’t want to pay $30 a plate for potatoes that are good other people in our group also commented that the food was not up to par given the price we paid for the meal.
Also, for what it’s worth, the bathrooms were two flights down, which for me and our party didn’t matter but if anyone had any mobility issues, I don’t know what they would’ve done

Went to this restaurant because several people said it was great. It was the only restaurant that seemed to be busy , so seemed a decent choice.
Very disappointing overall. Shrimp cocktail disappointingly small. Lobster risotto un memorable. The scallops were just plain strange- some sort of cashew purée, orange slices and cucumber dice- none of it went well together. The crab cakes were very good though.
20% tip automatically added ( not a fan of that)
I would skip it.

We were in town to watch a volleyball tournament and were staying nearby. Our schedule only permitted one dinner out, so after reviewing those restaurants available in the area, we selected the Blue Point Grill. My wife had the "simple salmon", which she said was excellent, and I selected the smaller filet, one of the best I have ever eaten. We also ordered the calamari appetizer, which was very good. There are many wines available by the glass, and the service, overall, was attentive but not intrusive. Reservations are a must, and they require a credit card with a pp charge if you cancel within a certain time. It is a very classy room, which adds to the enjoyment. There is an automatic 20% gratuity added to the cheque, and it was appreciated that the server informed us of that when she presented the bill. It was a great choice and a perfect meal for our only night out. We hope we can return in the future.

This was my first time to Blue Point Grille. The hostess seated us promptly. Our server was friendly and great with making recommendations. All the servers seemed to work well together. When something was requested that server helped and did not say "I will let your server know". The food was delivered in a reasonable time for the dining rooms being full and at the height of dinner service. Both meals were served with a nice presentation and at a good temperature. The manager was stopped to check on our table. He was also very nice and willing to talk with us for a few minutes about the restaurant. Overall, this was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. When visiting Cleveland, make this a place to eat especially if you like seafood.

This is a pricey place with $25 per person reservation charge if you are not able to make yours. So, I thought the restaurant would be packed due to the insane charge per reservation, and it was not full the entire evening. Additionally, everything is a la carte. I ordered the seafood house specialty at $67. It was just okay, shrimp, lobster and scallops were all over cooked. Two things were nice, the service was great but added to your check at 20% and the drinks. Sorry to say for $300 for two it was not worth it.

My husband and I went for Happy Hour which extended slightly into dinner time. We ordered the cheese plate and oysters for Happy Hour along with Wild Mushroom Gnocchis on that menu toward dinner time. I also ordered the lobster bisque from the dinner menu. All were good with the bisque being highly recommended. The bartender also gave us a basket of bread. The tip (service fee) was already on our tab which the bartender nicely pointed out so that we didn’t overtip. Overall a good experience.

We arrived late on Sunday night to Cleveland. We googled top restaurants and found Blue Point Grille was highly rated and only a short walk away.
We were greeted warmly by the maitre de and were seated at the window table. Our waiter Sean was great!! Our food choices were outstanding especially the pan roasted halibut. What a great experience and will definitely stop again on our next trip to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We started out at the happy hour at the bar. The bar tender Halley was very experience, and friendly. The oysters were amazing if that’s your thing. The happy hour menu had great dishes such as risotto and grouper sandwich at very reasonable prices. When we left the restaurant was packed especially for a Tuesday night. A gem of a place in a gem of a neighborhood. A must!!

Came here on the recommendation of my sister who used to frequent Medina, and had been here. First off, great people watching location. We were seated so that we were able to see folks walking outside on the street. Lots of fun! We started with the oysters on the half shell sampler—absolutely wonderful! Fresh and great tour of the coast! Lobster bisque was very tasty, one adult kid had the pan seared scallops which were done perfectly, tender and seared to perfection. Other daughter had the Halibut which can be done any way you order. She also had the crab-leek Mac and cheese, which was extreme tastiness! Drinks were very good, too and creative—Habanero Margarita, Rosemary Mule, Blondie Mary, and Little Black Dress all enjoyed! We loved this place, definitely try the oysters!
